Note – It is advised to use XY-VSFilter with these releases, as other filters may break certain typesets.
To watch the commentaries, go into the commentary folder, and double click Commentary.bat. This will extract the commentaries and mux them with the video. Then, choose the episode you wish to watch in the commentary folder and enjoy.
v2 changes – 01/02 font, 01 typeset mistime, 05 preview episode # mismatch, 07 title card # mismatch, 11 title card # mismatch. Episode 01 + 02 also had their commentary patches redone to create 2 files, lowering torrent size by about 600 MB.
Thank you very much guys for doing this series.
Could’ve sworn you dropped this. Was gonna work on this myself (and not share) @_@ hated when i worked distro…
I’m a little pissed off. This series had been double and triple checked, so I have no idea how an OC error slipped by. For some reason, OP1a and OP1b both had the same UID. So while 01 directed to an OP that wasn’t there, 03 directed to 2. It must have chosen to play OP1a.
The issue is fixed, awaiting a new torrent. The only new files will be the new OP, and the 01OP commentary xdelta. This issue does not effect 1080p.
New 720p torrent is up.
thanks for the subs
This is quite a surprise. Glad to see it done.
Neat
I’m so happy that you took your time to finish this awesome anime. I thank you from the bottom of my heart 🙂
Thanks! 😀
∞ thanks to you!!
yay
Oh fuck yes!
I had to read the tweet three times. I couldn’t believe you had released the full batch out of the blue.
Lots and lots of thanks, this was exactly what I needed 🙂
YES! Now it’s time to marathon Bake & Nisemonogatari. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Awesome, thanks for the release! I’ve yet to marathon this and Bake too.
By the way, I’m using xy-VSFilter (and LAV audio/video, Haali, madVR if that matters), and I see this. What up with that? The other signs seem to be okay though.
Thank you so much!
Ep 8 1080p 2:26 at the flash text… Do you seriously expect me to rotate my head 300 degrees clock wise just to read the subs? http://i.imgur.com/yRtQj.png
This is plainly retarded… Couldn’t you have just pointed them the other way from the 270 degrees mark?
^Not that hard. You can always pause it and take you time reading it. Be grateful that you even watching the BD’s otherwise you would have had to wait almost 6-7 months for UTW to release the entire batch.
Also Monogatari series is meant to be re-watched so no big deal if you are having trouble watching it or rotating your head 300 degrees to see the subs. This is why this is strange.
Also Kirsten thank you for your constant updates. I stayed up till 3:30 AM to put this on download as soon as you released it. I’ll try to seed 100GB+.
OMG thx, UTW were taking their time, glad you picked it back!
Did you use different settings for the openings/endings? I’m surprised they’re ~250 MB each.
because they are coalgirls fgt!
I got a problem with the 1080p batch.
Not quite sure why, but the OP’s and ED’s are lagging like crazy and sound sometimes cuts out at various places. Tried re-downloading, but didn’t fix the problem.
The actual episodes themselves are working fine though. o.O
Any help would be appreciated.
the OP (ive only tried 1b) crashes on the 1080p version no matter what I try. I have xy-vsfilter installed, Haali, lav, madvr and no matter how I tweak the settings the OP is fucked. ISR doesn’t change anything, and any type of renderer doesn’t change anything. It also crashes on VLC and KMPlayer for what its worth.
PC is a core i7 @ 2.2 GHz, 8 GM RAM, Radeon 7690M. Is it really my setup?
Fuck yeah!
It wasn’t nearly as good as Bakemonogatari, but still an awesome series.
Never mind. The above setup works fine. I was unaware that these were ordered chapters and even though the episode had finished downloading, the op still hadn’t. -_-
Is there a reason why you went with xdelta’s instead of just having a second audio / subtitle track in the original files? This seems like sillyness when you can have multiple video/audio/sub tracks in an MKV… not to mention then take up 2x the space if you want to keep the originals but watch the commentary…
Because of ordered chapters. The commentaries have stuff during the OP and ED, and it would get cut out if I just released audio tracks.
Why isn’t this on nyaa yet?
Are there supposed to be subs with the commentary? Am I doing something wrong?
I liked it! 🙂
Uhh I just noticed in episode 11 – Tsukihi Phoenix Part 4; in the 1080p (not sure of 720p) at 3:38 it’s labelled as Episode 10, Tsukihi Phoenix Part 3. I also just double checked the previous episode just in case I had renamed them wrong and missed an episode; it seems to be right though.
i dont think the commentary comes with subs, which makes this the second time the a group bother putting them on with the series without translating them it seems
Just in case you haven’t already found this, the title card subtitles in the 1080p version of episode 7 list it as being episode 4 and as Karen Bee Part 4.
Hey, my computer is crashing about 6 mins in to ep2, (I’m guessing) due to all the translated book titles. If it’s not too much trouble, could you upload the subs file for that episode (1080p) so I can edit out some of the translations, ’til my computer can run it? – or recommend a way of extracting subtitles from an mkv: I’ve tried MKVToolNix, but the resulting subtitle files are such a mess I can’t edit them without screwing up the timing…
can i have the commentaries as a separate audio files?
@Kit: How are the subtitles a mess if you’re extracting them with MKVtoolnix? How are you possibly messing up the timing? You have to manually shift the subs and commit them to mess them up.
Also, are you using xy-vsfilter? That fixes 90% of typesetting problems.
@skiddiks. It’s not that I can’t edit subtitles, given an original file I can do it no problem, but the file MKVToolNix gives me, for the most part, looks something like this: ‘K Jÿç L Kÿç M Lÿæ N Mÿæ O Nÿæ P Oÿå Q Pÿå R Qÿå S Rÿä T Sÿä’. And even when I find the part I want to change, say a hex value for colour or a single line of text, it throws out the timing of the entire file.
I’ve not heard of xy-vsfilter though, I’ll look into that.
Ah, I’ve been using MKVMerge to extract the file… because it gave me something that at least half resembled a subtitle file I thought I was at least on the right track; just realised I should’ve downloaded and used MKVExtractGUI, which makes a lot of sense now that I think about it. Well, weeks later, at least I figured out my mistake.
Thanks anyway, skiddiks.
I’m having a problem here. For each episode that I watch, it never plays the OP/ED. It wasn’t like this back then, is there any way to fix this?
@jameshriz, did you download the OP/EDs and keep them in the same folder as the episodes? If that’s not the problem, then you must be using a media player that doesn’t support ordered chapters.
Why ordered chapter?!!?? I got problems with it when encoding it all the time…
@Kit, I’m using MPC-HC with madVR, after I did a few updates for the media player and the decoder. I get this problem. Can you show me your type/version of media player and how you set it up?
@jameshriz, well that should work… I would just try reinstalling it; otherwise, try CCCP or VLC.
mmm, episode 1 and 2 have different sub font, both 720 and 1080 version. I suppose the other eps, taht all have the same font, are the right ones. can someone confirm this? thanks.
@KIt, I figured it out that MPC-HC does not support ordered chapters in the first place, you have to use Haali renderer or madVR renderer because it support linked segment files. Thank you anyway for your concern.
Thanks for the release!!
By the way are you guys going to release subs for the commentary??
One thing someone missed in QC:
In OP1a, The subtitles are blue during the parts where the stapler is moving in the background. This is because in the stapler was blue in the TV version. For the BDs, Shaft changed it to red, but the subs were not changed, so it looks pretty out of place. I can see how it might of been missed in QC, but it should’ve been noticed since the subs outline matches the background throughout the video.
I was bothered by it enough to fix it on my own. Here’s a patch for it, if anyone would like it (1080p only):
http://www.mediafire.com/?uwurls240p48l2o
The other change I made was changing the script resolution to 1920×1080. For whatever reason, everything is 848×480. http://puu.sh/1stfj
I have no idea how that was missed considering Aegisub gives a pop-up if the subtitle resolution does not match the video resolution.
Since the commentaries presumably don’t have subs (please correct me if this is not the case) and I can’t understand enough Japanese to use them without, they seem a pretty pointless waste of space.
Thanks for including them as separate files so I can simply skip downloading them.
thank you for the awesome release.
For some reason, the torrent doesn’t seem to want to begin downloading. I click on the 720p (tried 180p too) link, and the .torrent file downloads. I try to open it to begin downloading, and nothing. Help?
Never mind. I restarted my client and its fixed 🙂
