Is it just due to different sub sources?

    • coalgirl writes:

Not really sure how this is possible because I copied the same style each episode. But there may have been some strange font issue. If it’s real it’s minor and I’m not making v3.2 for it. If it’s just your eyes, then that’s the end of it. XD

  2. John writes:

Is there a translation error on episode 15 at around the 1:20 mark? It reads “Why do you think that? I wouldnt understand my master. She’s the only master I have.” Shouldnt it be “I wouldnt misunderstand my master”? just wondering

    • coalgirl writes:

It may be or may not be. I couldn’t figure it out myself as I don’t know Japanese, but it gets the point across either way.

  3. pin writes:

I just noticed that the previous version had a ED5 file which is missing on this one. Is that by design?

  4. coldhell writes:

    @Gar:
If it is some kind of font issue – Haali splitter wont load .otf font without correct MIME type, but LAV splitter doesn’t care and load all fonts perfect.
If it is some kind of border issue (from “bold”,”tiny”) – different styles (almost impossible after CG’s post) or missing line “ScaledBorderAndShadow: yes” for some episodes, if both 720 and 1080p are using the same .ass with different scale (i.e. 1080p script for 720 or 720p script for 1080p)
Everything else should be some weird setup/eyes issue. I guess that I will figure out when my download is complete.

  5. coldhell writes:

    Yep, font issue.
    8 is mixed with MyriadPro-Bold and 13 with MyriadPro-Semibold
There is a big difference, but no need of v2 patch. Just install the font:

  6. nameless writes:

    thanks coldhell, nice fix

  7. dan writes:

Thanks very much for the effort in the re-release.

I downloaded it, but in the end I’ll stick to the old release, or maybe extract the old release’s subtitles and mux them to the new encode.
The new typesetting is kinda gross, with very large font size which often causes an increase in lines number (occupying more screen space and makes my eyes run more through the screen – taking longer time to read it).

While I realize you improved many of the signs and other typesetting issues, the standard dialog is the most prevalent and the benefits of an average sized font far outweights the giant font one.

As much as I realize you release things the way to like, I’d like to leave the suggestion of using smaller, average sized, fonts in the next releases.

    Again, thanks for the dedication.

  8. MaAs writes:

    @John

Yeah, should be “misunderstand”, since Black Hanekawa uses the word gokai (誤解).

  9. yamada writes:

i’m also having that font issue, btw i’m using the 8/1/13 cccp.

  10. yamada writes:

also, i’d like to add that the font thingy doesn’t really affect the watching experience, as far as i can tell it only affects dialogue. the signs are still fine.

the only downside to the font issue is that sometimes the subs are stacked 3 lines high (i’m assuming that the original font would have kept those lines to a height of 2 lines max).

  11. yamada writes:

also, ep 13, aroudn 1:46, “Oh, it’s muraragi-san.” the timing is off a bit i think? the line doesn’t show up with “Ah,” and instead starts with “muraragi-san”

  12. coalgirl writes:

Here’s a sad reality. No matter what the subs are, if you are looking for something to criticize, you will be able to find it. There is no such thing as a perfect sub, professional or fansub.

Are you asking me to v9001 it? I’m not going to. I was waiting to see if they was any major issue like major ts bleeds, oc errors, etc, which there doesn’t seem to be, and then close the book on the matter.

Are you trying to get people to not download it? Then go away, troll.

Are you trying to just aggravate me? Same, go away.

Or are you just trying to feel special that you may have found something that a small minority would like different?

  13. dan writes:

Constructive criticism leads to improvement is all.

Not trying to troll. I’m getting it for free, and you’ll continue doing it however you like. I’ve generally liked and preferred your releases, despite some other people’s criticisms, and am trying to express my opinion in matters which I believe can be improved. There will always be room for it.

If you find my “small minority” opinion worthless, go ahead and just delete my comments and I shall not persist on the issue or comment in any other release from you (neither thank as well, as I have done).

  14. yamada writes:

sorry if u took my comments the wrong way, i actually love coalgirls and i personally feel that everybody should archive using your releases. i just figured i would let you know of these things. but if you don’t want me to post them, i won’t. sorry again.

on a positive note, thanks for all the great work as always.

  15. stycki writes:

    Thanks for your work!

    Where’s the magic patch fairy?
P.S.: Thanks for your hard work

  17. urusai writes:

In ep4 ending they are talking about the credits scrolling down which doesn’t happen until ep9+.
Not sure if it’s intentional (to save having another separately encoded ED).

    • coalgirl writes:

Yeah, this is because of the use on NCEDs. Everyone watching the commentaries is to assume that they know how it was originally.

  18. geasslord writes:

Is there a file list anywhere? I can’t torrent back in the university and want to see if anyone got DDL for the files?

    [snip]

Are all the files listed in the link above the updated versions?

  19. Meron writes:

Just wondering, is there supposed to be an OP1 file? There’s a separate file for all the other OPs

  20. urusai writes:

    @Gar @coldhell
Eps 11 to 15 don’t have the font but 11 and 13 work because the font is in the linked ED.

  21. geasslord writes:

Any particular reason why there “missing” ED/OP and why the older version has OP/ED that are not in this version?

  22. coalgirl writes:

Let me clarify the OPs and EDs.

As has always been the cases, I only used ordered chapters for the OPs and EDs which had no credits. As such:
OP1 (Staple Staple) – Used in episodes 1, 2, and 12. This was never included on the discs in NC form. These are included in the episodes themselves
OP2 (Hyper Mayoi) – NC, labelled as OP2. Used in episodes 3, 4, and 5.
OP3 (Lesbian Kanbaru) – NC, labelled as OP3. Used in episodes 6, 7, and 8.
OP4a (Sengoku without hat) – NC, labelled as OP4a. Used in episode 9.
OP4b (Sengoku with hat) – NC, labelled as OP4b. Used in episode 10.
OP5a (Live action Tsubasa) – Not included in NC form. Included in the episodes for episode 11 and 13.
OP5b (Animated Tsubasa) – NC, labelled as OP5b. Used in episode 14 and 15.

    ED1 – Basic ED, included NC. Used in episodes 1, 3, 4, 6, 7.
ED2 – Sengoku themed ED. Not included NC. Included in episodes 9 and 10.
ED3 – Tsubasa themed ED. Included NC. Used in episodes 11 and 13.
ED4 – Black Tsubasa themed ED. Not included NC. Included in episode 14.
ED5 – Special ED. Included NC. However, I decided to splice it in this version instead of OC.

Also spliced in – NC episode 2, 5, and 8.

Why there are no OP (Tsubasa OP) and ED (Kimi no Shiranai) in Episode 15?

  26. Grimmy writes:

Is there is any Patch to cut the Tsubasa Live Action OP in Episode 11 and 13 (It’s contain nudity)

  27. Fiona writes:

there is no animated Tsubasa OP in EP 14 and 15.

  28. Nikola writes:

Just interested in knowing if you have any plans on subbing and providing the Kizumonogatari (in awesome quality as always), or the rest of the Monogatari seasons?

  29. Ryan writes:

I’m having a problem with the 720p episode 7. I cannot get it to load into HandBrake to convert it to mp4 (for my iProducts). It simply crashes it. I’ve downloaded it twice, and same issue. The other episodes run through it just fine.

  30. hurmhurm writes:

Great job releasing v3.1, had downloaded the coalgirls releases since the the first version and personally, the new typesetting is quite a big improvement.

Putting that aside, while the mistake pointed out by John does throw the meaning off the sentence, it is definitely not plot changing. Surprised that no one picked up on the error since the subs were reused from the previous versions. Maybe someone could make a patch for it? I’m not too sure how to do it, so I’d have to pass on it.

Thanks for the awesome release as always, definitely can’t doubt the quality of the releases when it comes to coalgirls.

  31. Zhu_Que writes:

I was looking for your fansubs because I really liked your translation of OP4, it took me a while, but I finally found this page. I see some losers have been talking trash here, given how some fansub groups replaced OP4 with a commercial or outright deleted it, it’s no wonder. If you are reading this and didn’t like OP4 I have only bad wishes for you. Anyways, thank you so much for these awesome fansubs.

uhmm excuse me, im a noob here..

there’s an xdelta patch with the torrent i downloaded just now..

    it says “subbed commentaries”

what does that mean my good sir/s?

  34. Natsuki writes:

Can someone please reseed it ? My download is pretty slow here … Thanks in advance m(_ _)m

  35. 774 writes:

I really can’t get the xdelta patch to work. I get xdelta.exe is not a valid Win32 application.

Still don’t understand the concept of ordered chapters in today’s day and age. Seriously, they are far more inconvenient than there are worth.

  36. 774 writes:

I’ve tried out the Nisemonogatari patches and they work. Not sure why the Bakemonogatari patches are giving me a “xdelta.exe is not a valid Win32 Application” error message.

  37. DrunkHobo writes:

Thank you so much for this release. I am having a problem with the commentaries though, all the commentaries create the files except for episode 1 and I have tried redownloading the file as well.

http://imgur.com/m5nPmcP A picture of the error if that helps.

Looks like some borked data is at the beginning of the line, open the batch file and check for stuff that doesn’t belong there.

  38. PielordMiniman writes:

I just downloaded the commentary tracks and have been trying for literally hours to get both audio tracks in the same file but it never quite works perfectly (always has a slight jump of pause between sections). I went through earlier comments and found you say that patches for files like that would be ~400Mb. I’m sure that almost everybody interested in the commentary tracks would like to have said files for archiving (at least i would) (I can’t even rename the files). If we could get the files just in a separate torrent I could finally get the Monogatari archive of my dreams. it just seems like a hassle to have to repatch the files every time I want to watch the commentary (especially since I use a mac).

But I know you’re just going to do what you want anyway, but if you did it would make me one very happy otaku.

  39. Ryan writes:

are there subtitles for the character commentary in this torrent?

I have a bit of an issue going on here, and I dont know how to fix it so I’m asking for your help.
I downloaded Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari, and Nekomonogatari as well, 720p version.
And in every single episode I have strange color errors and I don’t know why.
Could you please help me how to fix this?

Hi when I click on the commentary batch to generate the commentary files I get this message in the batch windows: http://i.imgur.com/QFBcZYh.png?1

    I get this message for commentary files episode: 1, 8, 10 ,13.
I can play those episodes fine but if I want to skip some part in the episode, it jumps all the way to the ending. Is this some kind of error? If so, can you help me to fix it?
Sorry for the trouble causing it.

But thanks for the super awesome release I really appreciate it. The quality is good as always =)

  44. ayy lmao writes:

This could be late but, I found out the way about the “锘縳delta -d -s” error.
I opened the commentary in notepad ++, the text are arranged, but something seems off.
It is the line one, it looks like this:
    xdelta -d -s “..\[Coalgirls]_Bakemonogatari_01_(1280x720_Blu-ray_FLAC)_[8D26B517].mkv” “01.xdelta” “[Coalgirls]_Bakemonogatari_01_Commentary_(1280x720_Blu-ray_FLAC)_[1320F10B].mkv”xdelta -d -s “..\[Coalgirls]_Bakemonogatari_ED1_(1280x720_Blu-ray_FLAC)_[6F75944F].mkv” “01ED.xdelta” “[Coalgirls]_Bakemonogatari_01_Commentary_ED_(1280x720_Blu-ray_FLAC)_[7AB07B75].mkv”

To fix, I just pressed enter at the 2nd “xdelta” text and it works, sending the xdelta for ED1 at the next line.
