I remember an old toradora post saying that toradora and denmou coil were your last 2 auto pickups. what happened to the toradora rumor? was the bluray ever given a date?
This is going to be 10 Bit, right? I’ve wanted this series in 720p since I gained access to a computer that can even handle 720p. Please do 10 bit. Thanks
That twitpic is so awesome 😀
But I’m gonna tell you a secret: I don’t know what this show is about, and when you first announced it was the first time I heard of it.
So I’ll watch its “premiere” in here 😀
(Sometimes that’s how I like to watch shows and movies, simply full surprise).
question: is the source audio good enough to justify a 24-bit release? for just about anything that was on TV once, the material does not even nearly use the dynamic range of 16 bit (with its effectively useable 60 dB of dynamic), so 24 bit (about 100 dB useable dynamic range) is just bragging about higher numbers and greater filesize.
16 bit reaches its limits only with cinema productions that were created with really high dynamic range.
oh, and by the way, about the use of FLAC: what format is the original? if its anything besides discrete 6-channel PCM (e.g. Dolby Digital, DTS or something like that), it was already compressed lossy and using a lossless codec afterwards increases the filesize without increasing the quality. Even for cinema productions, a 5.1 Dolby Digital track has a bitrate of 32o kbit/s to 448 kbit/s (all channels combined!)
And before you complain that if I don’t like your versions, I just shouldn’t download them or create my own audio tracks for me (I’ll do that anyways because I don’t have a surround system), I just want you to be aware of some formats not being reasonable.
Ich hab kein problem mit “And we don’t care if the use of 24-bit is justified. If it’s there, we use it.”
For those who don’t speak German and want to follow this argument (though I can’t see any reason why they should do so):
ChrisK: “If you don’t know anything, just shut up”
biribiri: I don’t have a problem with “And we don’t care if the use of 24-bit is justified. If it’s there, we use it.”
I still wonder why you think I don’t know what I’m talking about. Seems more like someone does not want to argue with logic and proven sources, but has to comment for his ego’s sake.
Oh, I just saw the footer on the site: Coalgirls – We will do what we want, and do not care about your opinion.
Why do you even bother trying to argue with me?
@ coalgirl:
Linear PCM does not use lossless compression, as it is not compressed at all. As I don’t care too much about BDs, I didn’t know LPCM is the standard format. I know about Dolby and DTS systems used with DVDs and in cinemas and thought, some format like this might be the standard on BD as well. Okay, there I was obviously wrong, but I still mentioned in my first post the possibility of the source being PCM.
The add note “Only Dolby TrueHD uses lossless compression” was actually meant as “The only Dolby Format using lossless compression is Dolby TrueHD”, I forgot to mention that I was writing only about Dolby.
Finally, another reason to rewatch this. The first one is “I don’t remember why did I like this so much”.
I am literally weeping with joy.
Werent you supposed to slow down? You are releasing more stuff than ever heh.
Anyways, nice pick.
@Nettosama
shhhhhhhhhh
^Agreed
Never watched this, but wanted to pick this show up, since it seems to be great.
Can’t wait, but now I want to wait :p
Greatness
This is literally my favorite anime. I am so happy if this is true!
So much happeh!
LUV IT!! Can’t wait! =)
I love this series. Hated for a long time my only copy is a crappy 480p version. Thank you!
If I remember right, this was the one show Kristen wanted to do since some time now. Would it be wrong to guess that she’s now jumping for joy?
…Just kidding. Still, hope this was good news for you as it is for us. 🙂
I remember an old toradora post saying that toradora and denmou coil were your last 2 auto pickups. what happened to the toradora rumor? was the bluray ever given a date?
Hasn’t been. I haven’t heard anything since then.
Consider my calendar marked. I’ll be counting the days until this one.
…top tier anime. Actually one of the best I’ve ever seen.
Awesome choice of an anime!
Amazing. Can’t wait, definitively re-watching it.
Dear coalgirl,
for this choice of anime
consider your feet kissed.
And washed.
Not nessecarily in this order…
Sincerely,
era-omigodican’twait!
Boku Sacchi!!
FUCK YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! All time favorite. 🙂
\O.O/
YEEES

If this is 10-bit, I will weep tears of joy. Either way, Ill probably download them all. I think I’ll need to schedule a time to show my GF this show.
I loved this show the first time. In 1080p with a 10b encode…it will be even better.
🙂 <3
This still on track for the 25th?
Is there any updates on this?
The banner changed!
Love the Dennou Coil Banner.
Patiently waiting :3

Seems interesting.. Can’t wait for it! 😀
Could you put together with episodes scans and bonus material?

The audio on the Blu-ray is DTS-HD Master Audio, which is also lossless.
And we don’t care if the use of 24-bit is justified. If it’s there, we use it.
Add Note:
Only Dolby TrueHD uses lossless compression (official Dolby website: http://www.dolby.com/us/en/consumer/technology/home-theater/dolby-digital-plus.html)
“Wenn man keine Ahnung hat: Einfach mal Fresse halten.”
That is outright wrong.
1. Linear PCM is obviously lossless. Moreso, it is simply uncompressed. This is used on most BDs.
2. DTS-HDMA is lossless. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DTS-HD_Master_Audio
Ich hab kein problem mit “And we don’t care if the use of 24-bit is justified. If it’s there, we use it.”

@ coalgirl and alex:
toradora bd has a release date: 2011/12/21

I can’t wait! And I am fine with it being big. This series is worth it.
@anon
Yep and I’m looking forward to it ^_^
eww grain. but i am looking forward to this show after all the talk here about it. originally i passed it off as a kids show but obviously i was wrong
It’s been a while since I’ve watched this series but I remember enjoying it, so looking forward to the future release!
Can I wait indefinitely so long as I know a quality BD rip of Dennou Coil is on its way? Yes, yes I can.
Good to know. Thanks.
I just re-watched this last month, can’t wait to see it in a better quality, thanx for picking it up d(-_^) I really did like this series.
At least for 720p you should consider going with AAC.
I don’t care if these end up at 3 gb per episode, it’s fucking Dennou Coil.
Hell yes.
Comparison has me drooling.
