If I remember right, this was the one show Kristen wanted to do since some time now. Would it be wrong to guess that she’s now jumping for joy?

…Just kidding. Still, hope this was good news for you as it is for us. 🙂

This is going to be 10 Bit, right? I’ve wanted this series in 720p since I gained access to a computer that can even handle 720p. Please do 10 bit. Thanks

  24. Bobbias writes:

If this is 10-bit, I will weep tears of joy. Either way, Ill probably download them all. I think I’ll need to schedule a time to show my GF this show.

That twitpic is so awesome 😀
But I’m gonna tell you a secret: I don’t know what this show is about, and when you first announced it was the first time I heard of it.
So I’ll watch its “premiere” in here 😀
(Sometimes that’s how I like to watch shows and movies, simply full surprise).

  33. WhiteCat writes:

    Nice banner… so excited. 🙂

Seems interesting.. Can’t wait for it! 😀

  35. Raizon writes:

Could you put together with episodes scans and bonus material?

  36. biribiri writes:

question: is the source audio good enough to justify a 24-bit release? for just about anything that was on TV once, the material does not even nearly use the dynamic range of 16 bit (with its effectively useable 60 dB of dynamic), so 24 bit (about 100 dB useable dynamic range) is just bragging about higher numbers and greater filesize.
16 bit reaches its limits only with cinema productions that were created with really high dynamic range.

oh, and by the way, about the use of FLAC: what format is the original? if its anything besides discrete 6-channel PCM (e.g. Dolby Digital, DTS or something like that), it was already compressed lossy and using a lossless codec afterwards increases the filesize without increasing the quality. Even for cinema productions, a 5.1 Dolby Digital track has a bitrate of 32o kbit/s to 448 kbit/s (all channels combined!)

And before you complain that if I don’t like your versions, I just shouldn’t download them or create my own audio tracks for me (I’ll do that anyways because I don’t have a surround system), I just want you to be aware of some formats not being reasonable.

    • ChrisK writes:

The audio on the Blu-ray is DTS-HD Master Audio, which is also lossless.

And we don’t care if the use of 24-bit is justified. If it’s there, we use it.

  37. biribiri writes:

    Add Note:
Only Dolby TrueHD uses lossless compression (official Dolby website: http://www.dolby.com/us/en/consumer/technology/home-theater/dolby-digital-plus.html)

  38. biribiri writes:

Ich hab kein problem mit “And we don’t care if the use of 24-bit is justified. If it’s there, we use it.”

For those who don’t speak German and want to follow this argument (though I can’t see any reason why they should do so):
ChrisK: “If you don’t know anything, just shut up”
biribiri: I don’t have a problem with “And we don’t care if the use of 24-bit is justified. If it’s there, we use it.”
I still wonder why you think I don’t know what I’m talking about. Seems more like someone does not want to argue with logic and proven sources, but has to comment for his ego’s sake.

Oh, I just saw the footer on the site: Coalgirls – We will do what we want, and do not care about your opinion.
Why do you even bother trying to argue with me?

  39. biribiri writes:

    @ coalgirl:
Linear PCM does not use lossless compression, as it is not compressed at all. As I don’t care too much about BDs, I didn’t know LPCM is the standard format. I know about Dolby and DTS systems used with DVDs and in cinemas and thought, some format like this might be the standard on BD as well. Okay, there I was obviously wrong, but I still mentioned in my first post the possibility of the source being PCM.
The add note “Only Dolby TrueHD uses lossless compression” was actually meant as “The only Dolby Format using lossless compression is Dolby TrueHD”, I forgot to mention that I was writing only about Dolby.
