Cause I already run full blown Active Directory. I basically boot the machine from network via PXE, WDS deploys the OS with my settings and joins it to the domain. All setup and ready to go in <30mins. Linux is a pain to manage en mass.
I actually can agree with that. Linux is a pain to manage in large amounts. I had about 6 encoding PCs and they all had dual boot with linux and man I never could even find a use for it.
I bought the server it sits in the rack in my apt. Let’s just say it wasn’t cheap. Google those CPUs and you have a good idea of where most of the cost is. 😉
Well encoding a 1080 at my settings it runs around 1.3FPS. Thing is I am able to do multiple 1080s in parallel without speed impact. That server does 4 episodes 720 & 1080 in parallel in about 9hrs.
would like to mention…you should have kata subs as the main track…cause its the best translation for the series (tho u have to just double check the tl.. 1-3 errors per script)
the second best tl would be woodbridge…again…gotta double check some of the sentences..few errors to correct
I agree with Noko. personally i have like no knowledge of the Japanese language and will admit it, and i will usually only complain when a group REALLY screws up on a CONSISTENT basis (which I have noticed gg does so….), but still sometimes you go with what you have to work with.
If you’re going to use gg subs, would you mind using the updated versions they released for episodes 1-12? They v2’d, v3’d, etc. a number of episodes, fixing a number of translation errors and making various wordings more consistent throughout.
I figure that it’d be easier to incorporate these new versions before more AoEx blurays are released, since you only have to reencode episodes 1&2 (as opposed to, you know, 12+). Or maybe you could release a patch or something convenient like that.
Well one doesn’t need tons of space for just the OS and a few filters. All our scratch work like raw BDMVs and encodes are stored on our storage server. None of the encoding boxes stores data locally.
PSU is actually overkill, those CPUs are low voltage and don’t burn up much power. A 500w would probably do it, but I wanted something with lots of voltage stability. Just using onboard vid from the mobo helps too.
Okay, so this is a question for you 10-bit gurus out there.
From the looks of things, a lot of fansubbing groups are considering switching out to 10-bit, and from what I can tell, you can only play 10-bit videos with the CCCP beta.
My current media solution is set up such that a Mac Mini plays videos through a projector, and I’m worried that I won’t be able to watch these new encodes.
How would I go about taking advantage of 10-bit releases on a Mac?
Holy.. Fuu… Nice Tenshi. Thanks.
Woot first comment!
And damn, looks demonic enough.
wow this is way different from the type of anime you guys usually do. i like it
Learn to encode.
Interesting. Thanks Tenshi.
Also why windows server?
Cause I already run full blown Active Directory. I basically boot the machine from network via PXE, WDS deploys the OS with my settings and joins it to the domain. All setup and ready to go in <30mins. Linux is a pain to manage en mass.
ooo Fuck yea thxxx
I actually can agree with that. Linux is a pain to manage in large amounts. I had about 6 encoding PCs and they all had dual boot with linux and man I never could even find a use for it.
How much you paying?
I bought the server it sits in the rack in my apt. Let’s just say it wasn’t cheap. Google those CPUs and you have a good idea of where most of the cost is. 😉
Yeah I have a few Xeons myself. I know that they can be quite a bit.
But wow in your apt? That is amazing, you must have fiber in your apt or something?
Any chance of a patch for the updated subs that gg released earlier today?
In the final batch I guess.
So glad I can finally archive a version without gg’s annoying mameshiba trolls ^^
You’ve really outdone yourself this time. 🙂 TY!
WHY SO BIG
Because lolTenshi.
Oh, nice server.
that new server is not just for encoding right ? 😀
Thanks.
But is it possible to have alternate subs like WoodBridge or Hatsuyuki-Hadena?
Because gg was clearly not the best group on this show.
gg!? Really!? I’ll pass.
Sorry, not interested in gg. Hatsuyuki is far better. Though they haven’t finished it yet -_-”
Thanks, I really appreciate this 🙂
From what I read, WoodBridge > gg > Hatsuyuki-Hadena > KaMa, can you explain why you chose gg?
Are you fixing the existing errors in those subs?
Thanks again 😉
@tiago
i don’t recall tenshi editing any of the subs on his projects. he just merges them with his encodes. just hope gg edited those in their v2.
Ah ok, thanks for the info.
Yes, I hope they did that…
Please not choose gg! Other groups has more good english, than gg! gg not good as them…
yea gg not good english… other groups… more good english… like me
esta:Argh YOU EAT MAH PIE.
I almost cried when i saw that chart.
Dual cpu’s on a single machine, i love that machine.
And I love this show.
Tenshi, you rule!
Curious here. If you use that server for encoding, how many fps do you get when doing a 1080p encode?
Well encoding a 1080 at my settings it runs around 1.3FPS. Thing is I am able to do multiple 1080s in parallel without speed impact. That server does 4 episodes 720 & 1080 in parallel in about 9hrs.
gg is not the group to go with.
1080p DDL: http://www.fileserve.com/list/mG8yxmY

Why is it that idiots with no Japanese knowledge at all think they can comment on translations.
Amazing.

yeah its crazy how some people express their opinion on the internet. they should stop
Thanks for picking up this show.

Holy crap! Server do want.
>Why is it that idiots with no Japanese knowledge at all think they can comment on translations.
because they think editing = translation 🙂
also: nice server :3
>gg!? Really!? I’ll pass.
fuck off, weeaboos. who else that still doing Break Blade except them…..
Could you include chapters?
What are your specs for that server.
MB,CPU…etc
2 x Xeon x5650
12gb of RAM
Supermicro X8DTL-iF Mobo
Kingston 30GB SSD
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 PSU
I’m surprised the SSD and the PSU are so small.
What video card are you using?
Well one doesn’t need tons of space for just the OS and a few filters. All our scratch work like raw BDMVs and encodes are stored on our storage server. None of the encoding boxes stores data locally.

Oh, you’re using an onboard video card. Go figure.
Mind posting the upcoming release date for Volume 2 (and beyond, once they’re relevant) a la the Steins;Gate post?
Good lord!
That’s a lot of power.
I’m a little disappointed by the little SSD, but I like the hexa-core Xeon’s.
Is that the best server you have?
hah 1.3FPS
if you used high10p it would be a lot slower 🙁
What that high10p?

@Tiago
I knew about that, I thought it was something else.

Thanks.
Use mplayer2 or wait until XBMC gets updated or something.
>Its really demonic on performance.
Oh you
-_-; At least change gg’s Blackie to Kuro for episode 10+…
10bit soon?
Not for series in progress.
Srsly just 24 Episodes? Can’t imagine, because it looks more like an endless shounen.
Are 1080p DDLs something you folks are planning to do?
Or should I just grab the torrent instead?
Just grab the torrent.
