Heroic Age

Video
1920×1080, 1280×720 @ CRF 15
Audio
Japanese 2.0 AC3 640
English 5.1 FLAC (1080p only)

Here is the full batch with corrected AC3 audio for eps 1-9. If you have flac version no reason to re-download other than to save a tiny bit of space.

720p files are AC3 640 Audio, Ignore the whats on the filename, slight oops on my part.

100~gb for a 1080p series seems like too much for most people although I don’t mind. You could provide the english track separately for those that want it.

  2. bork writes:

skip the ENG track. With the size of files these encodes are becoming (including encodes from others), I am starting to worry my unlimited DL capability might have a hidden cap that I am going to run into.

Could provide the other audio tracks as a separate DL and let those that want them, mux it in themselves. Opens another bag of worms though.

  3. nigga writes:

not good enough of a show to waste 100GB on

  4. Chareon writes:

I’m ok with the filesizes, and would prefer CRF13 to CRF15, however I don’t really care about the eng audio tracks, as suggested above maybe a separate DL?

  5. Milfeulle writes:

Hell no, that’s a waste of time and HDD space. (For some, anyway)

Dubs are all shit, so you should take those out, I’m willing to bet no one’s going to miss it or ask for it.

  6. Jon™ writes:

The English dub version or Japanese voice version? Heck I prefer the Japanese voices over the English voices, so please just make it jap dub and subs than english dub unless you have a way to make the file size for 1080p to be 4gb and 720p to be 2gb only while having the english dub XD.

  7. Msater writes:

I love coming here because I think its the best. I like to have the choice in how i hear it. I say add the eng track and people can take it out if they want. I kinda like the jap myself but some people (like my little brother) arnt able to keep up with the subs and this happens to be one of my favorite animes. so please don’t listen to these winers and add both tracks.

  8. shinjix7 writes:

Obviously, I rather not waste extra time and extra bytes on something I know wouldn’t be worth my ear to listen to i.e. English dub. Plus, I will not waste 100 something GB on my HDD, cause it ain’t worth.

So yes, no English dub please.

    Original with ENG subs please!

  9. LoveYorStuff writes:

I have 5TB of storage and I can’t justify ~2gb for 720p per episode. I can understand the 1080p getting the full treatment, but I know I download 720p for more “digestible” sizes. Size bloat is becoming an issue across the board, but a standard TV 720p being ~350MB – thats a massive jump with definitely not 6x discernible difference. <3

  10. mikeRx writes:

Ditch the English audio. Way too much space on a crappy dub that most people will just remove anyway. Total waste of bandwidth and time.

If anything, make the English audio optional downloads, like the Bakemonogatari commentary tracks.

  11. NemesiS writes:

is there a big optical change between CRF 13 and CRF 15?
i am asking, if CRF 15 is worth the change.

and second thing, i thing ENG audio is not needed.
native JAP dubbing is priceless, after all we are watchin japan anime…

  12. Alex writes:

Skip the english track and down the quality of the audio a bit.

  13. betara indra gunung timur writes:

let’s say you go with crf15 without eng audio then. how big will the file size estimated to be?

i agree that more than 60GB for a 26 episodes would be too much.

  14. huhn writes:

maybe a screen from crf 13 and crf 15 to compare

    forget the eng dub

  15. papsi writes:

I’m extremely happy to see a decent encode of Heroic Age BluRay. 🙂

If you ask me, I’m not interested in the English dub, so you can cut it out freely, or provide it as an optional download, like the Bakemonogatari commentary track.

CRF13 seems like an overkill, CRF15 is a more reasonable choice, even CRF16 depending on the source. I’ve seen 1080p encodes of Heroic Age weighting 700 MB per episode. 3+ GBs for 24 minutes is just too much.

Tenshi, to help you a little, I’ve made a karaoke for the opening a few months earlier. It is for the 1080p BluRay version. Based on [Shinsen-Subs]’s translation. It’s not much, but if you wish to use it, go ahead. You can download it from here:
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DYAL6E6X

    Good luck! 🙂

I agree with some of the comments up there. I’ll ditch Eng audio, and maybe i’ll post some screen with low & high detail scene at various CRF (13, 15 and 16-17 maybe).

  17. Tg writes:

i’d think everythink below crf 16 should be overkill, but i havent seen comparison screens.

  18. General_Nic writes:

i wont complain about filesize, i’ll only complain about dl speed. And i dun care d heck about English audio

  19. Revenant writes:

    Hi Coalgirls,

I personally do not care at all about the english audio.
4GB for a single Episode is a little overboard even nowadays, honestly.
I’m not sure if there really is a visual difference between CRF 13 and 15 or even 17, but if anything I’d prefer CRF 15 if the size substantially drops.

For a single 1080p Episode it shouldn’t be bigger than 1.5GB at all, it’s really overboard.

  20. itsmeMARIO writes:

I agree with most people here. English audio isn’t needed. Also, I doubt crf 13 is needed either. Unless it can be proven perceptively better, which i doubt it can, not needed.

  21. hurr writes:

it seems no one cares about english audio so you can offer them seperately. i don’t think we can see much difference between crf13/15 except for the filesize but i’d like to see some comparison screens

btw i’ve never heard of this show but it looks interesting

  22. NemesiS writes:

moreover, i uload your releases to torrentleech.org and on 1080p i got 2-3 downloads, not because people cant play 1080p stuff, but because it is too big for them.

if you have time, you can post some sample of encode (like 1 min. of video for example) in diff CRF, 13, 15 and 17 so we can see comparison and if bigger size is truly worth quality, which i personally think not.

  23. srk writes:

I wouldn’t mind discarding the English audio either.

  24. Rcmaniac10 writes:

go for best quality who cares about file size, shift+del Eng audio plox.

  25. B0ng0 writes:

Reasonable size @ reasonable quality for the encoding process. As one of the previous commentators posted, around 1,5 GB for a 1080p encode is acceptable. No english audio needed.

  26. Alfred writes:

Are you fucking retarded? youre doing this instead of Bakatotest? give me a break these subs are going the wrong way. Period.

  27. DmonHiro writes:

Why the HELL are you using CRF 13? Overkill, ever heard of it?

  28. DmonHiro writes:

BTW, 2GB per episode is plenty for a 26 minute episode, no matter what you say. English dub? Burn it with fire. Or just delete it.

  29. schui writes:

Well I don’t care if one episode is 1-2 gb or not @ 1080p as long the quality is excellent. I like your work until now so I don’t mind if your files are bigger than 1 gb per episode =)

    Keep the good work up

And haters gonna hate for all whiners :s

  30. blubart writes:

The anime was (imo) only drawn at SD, so CRF15 (heck, even up to 17 for 1080p) should be totally fine.
Dropping the English audio would save me the time of demuxing it, but i could understand if some dubbies prefer it to be kept in.

I don’t know if it is possible, but it would be AMAZING if you could include the Shinsen-Subs script (needs to be OCRed) in addition to or instead of the official one – it’s tons better. I know it’s a lot of work, but definitely worth it in this case.

  31. Iron Sand G writes:

    CRF15 Dual Audio 😀
People can delete the English Audio easily if they don’t want it.

Like My-Hime for example,it’s triple audio and it was kept that way by C.G. 😀

  32. Oredayo writes:

No need for english audio, and it would be fine with crf15 imo. Also, thanks for picking this up, I was just planning to watch it, but I’ll wait for your releases then.

non-coalgirls release… hope it will not turn out another anon-chan failure

  34. Msater writes:

I still say you should dub it so it will be the best out there for everyone because hdd space is cheap ( I have 16Tb of it)but if people keep wining about it then what some people have sed about providing it as an optional download, like the Bakemonogatari commentary track would be the best bet. I don’t mind muxing it myself.

  35. Iron Sand G writes:

    Shout Out To *Joseole99*
    Dude,will you re-release 720 dual audio ?:D
I’m only going for the 720 and it seems that only the 1080 will have the English Track.

  36. Kokoro writes:

The people whining about adding dub yet again can go fuck themselves as far as i am concerned ,you would think the majority of them spoke fluent Japanese instead of English and could watch raw & dont even need subs

I don’t know if these are the official translations or the Shinsen ones. It does include honorifcs though (at least “sama”), so it might not be the official.

  39. ♦Tenshi♦ writes:

    ^^
Those are the ones I have. If a better translation doesn’t appear I will use those.

  40. kraken writes:

In all seriousness does that mean that Tenshi will start working on Funi in-house upscales??
I dont see why not just grab the “superior” audio and put them on the DVD encode, unless you can do a better job that Funi always fails at then probably do WitchBlade Bluray.

  41. Hedd writes:

I don’t really see the debate on english dubs. Fansubs tend to be getting the best quality translations on things we couldn’t normally get otherwise. Sometimes it’s imported with those horrible green sub fonts and bad translation and you just need something better. If you want english dubs, buy the BR. Nab this for better subs.

  42. DmonHiro writes:

The thing is that 5.1 FLAC is way to much of a waste for English dub. It’s just not worth it. I don’t need an even bigger file then what 1080p with 2.0 Japanese FLAC will produce, especially since I’d demux the English dub anyway (as many others would).

  43. artwork writes:

For those that are complaining about English dub just demux the audio yourselves, its not hard. So stop being so ungrateful and moaning about filesizes when it is so easy to rectify.

If people want English dub then sobeit, but if you don’t just remove it (something which i will be doing). This can be applied to any dual-audio release.

  44. fartwork writes:

    @artwork

    Don’t be so narrow-minded.

    1. You download the release and demux the english audio –> Wasted bandwith (Yes, even nowadays, people got a connection with a bandwith cap).

    2. You download the release and get the separate english audio file. The choice is up to you, whether you spend the bandwith on the audio or not (best solution anyway, given that the majority doesn’t care about the english audio anyway).

  45. baka writes:

wondering what’s the new projected file size now it’s on crf-15?
and yeah, i agree on what fartwork said.

  46. ♦Tenshi♦ writes:

    File sizes are as follows:
    Japanese 2.0 – ~250MB
    English 5.1 – ~ 600MB
    1080 – Video Only – ~2.1GB
    720 – Video Only – ~800MB
    .
    .
To the people complaining about the English dub and bandwidth either download the 720p version or talk to your ISP. I think I have been fair in this case.

  47. AsoTamaki writes:

Tenshi, forcing those who want 1080p to waste an extra ~15GB of bandwidth isn’t exactly ‘fair’. The choice is clearly yours to make, but I don’t see your reasoning in not making the dub track a separate file to be muxed in for the 10% (I’m being generous) of users who actually want it.

  48. shippaio writes:

No thanks. Ridiculous size at 1080p. About 55GB for 26 episodes. The bandwidth overage charge can buy a brand new set on Amazon for 25 bucks and free shipping:
