This show was really promising and even had some flashes of brilliance (episode 9 in particular. You’ll know the part near the end), but it just falls flat on its face after the big halfway twist. It could’ve been a masterpiece. It’s almost as if halfway through all of the writers quit and they had to hire random people from off of the street to finish it.

It really is a shame they couldn’t pull this show off to the end because it felt very much like Evangelion to me, and that is a very high compliment. The way the main character gets pulled out of his life into an adult world. He tries to apply his childish way of thinking to the very mature and even tragic world around him, until he is forced into a point where he must grow up all at once and realize the weight of what he is doing (hence why I talked about the end of episode 9 in particular). This show felt ambitious and I admired it for pulling off some very difficult storytelling and nuance, at least until halfway in. Hopefully this will serve as a lesson to future writers of what not to do.
