    Do most modern anime remain in stereo in Japan? I noticed that witch Star Driver too, I just assumed 5.1 was the norm now like it is for pretty much everything else. Or is it one of those culture things were most japanese homes can’t accommodate surround sound so it’s not worth the effort. It’s interesting whatever the answer.

    the rips are done from blurays, its just that the video source is upscaled to 1080p on the bluray
    but compared to the dvd versions the video still should be a bit better and especially the audio too since its not limited to low bitrate dvd-dolby digital (which usually is 384 / 448 kbps), the audio from bluray in dolby truehd is usually over 1000 kbps up to ~3000 kbps

I try different de-interlacing methods, but the glitches then just get worse. I know this has no problem to do with the video files themselves, but what codec is used to display these videos?     as far as i know vlc only uses its internal codecs to play files, so you should try updating to the latest version of vlc, if that doesnt help maybe try another player, i would recommend ZoomPlayer or media player classic

    also de-interlacing isnt necessary in these hd releases here cause they are “progressive”

    Well it is sad to hear about such an issue, but I thank you for (finally) giving us an update.
    Now when you say corruption from the source, do you mean the disks used for the rips or the rips used for the encode? Id hope they didnt (and doubt they did) release the show with corrupted episodes.
