@Me
LOL, I think you are doing the yen conversion wrong. It’s about $70 per disc. It’s absurd, but not THAT absurd.
Also, and this is for Tenshi, where did you obtain subtitles for the signs/songs? Might be a good idea to give them credit is all.
Sure, I added info on the page.
Would someone mind doing a comparison between UTW and this release? They are using flac and crf16.5 and I’d like to see whether it is comparable for half the size.
I have a comparison on my site (click on my name) between mine, coalgirls, utw, and the raw source.
Is there a reason why the coalgirls release has such muted colors as compared with yours and utw?
I was actually wondering that myself at first I thought it might be closer to the source color but when I took a screen straight off of the demuxed stream it really doesn’t match up at all. Maybe Tenshi could enlighten us?
How are you taking those screen shots? I downloaded the UTW for comparison, my screen shots look completely different from yours.

Personally i think that from the pics on tormaids site utws pic look best because it has a higher/sharper contrast level that makes the details nicer.But i am not a big fan of there sub style so am not sure which relase to get.
I took those pics using MPC’s screenshot function. I saved all 3 as PNGs and uploaded them without compression.
You know what, I think your right. For some reason my screens didn’t come out right. I’m downloading UTW’s again to re do this. Sorry for the confusion – I really don’t know why some looked brighter than others…
Heh, you had me running around trying to figure out that issue. But 4 different machines and 2 OSes side with me;) in terms of color.
lol, we really are quality whores aren’t we? Must have been a strange codec thing on my end.
Always happy to gripe on quality. Absolutely if there’s a quality issue please do tell. There’s only one area I won’t care about, and that’s filesize.
I completely agree. People should try downloading BDMV’s of this stuff and then they can talk about filesize.
Which episodes is mazui’s?
so it’s only op/ed/insert for mazui.
No freaking idea why mazui subs is not used in this series
Thank you for all your releases as they are the best around.
I was wondering what you mean abut you added the insert song for episode 5?
wasn’t the insert song (yui’s song) already in the episode?
I apologise if this is a stupid question.
Thanks for this never posted b4, but ya do excellent job;
I don’t know why ppl complain about the size of the files i think they fine considering how big the actually Blu-Rays are ripped not to mention u sacrifice quality the more u compress.
and i hate sacrificing quality
Keep up the good work Tenshi.
I kinda had the BDMV LAST Friday. Still we all appreciate the effort!
it is possible for you to create a patch file for ep 01 & 02 for OP/ED Karaoke? because it is much better to patch than to re download ep 01 & 02 again for OP/ED only..
I can make the scripts available for you to mux in yourself if you want. No patches though.
can you please send it to me… if you have a spare time.. XD
Is there any new or addition scene in this blu-ray from tv version ???
Episode 7 has an extended ending mainly full credits, otherwise exact same as TV.
sorry for double post, but can you send a script for ep01 & ep02 OP/ED karaoke, i will mux it for myself…
Whats wrong with the copy in the scripts rar file I posted?
Thanks… but I do wish you were using Mazui’s TL instead… EVERYONE is using SS subs, but IMO and most people I know prefer Mazui’s for once.
All the fixes (signs and OP/ED for 01-02, OP/ED/Insert for 01-06) are going to be integrated in the batch, correct?
Yes, they will be. I posted the scripts file for those that don’t want to re-download the eps as there’s nothing wrong with the video/audio.
^ I hope so.. Then again I’d be happy if just 1&2 were fixed really.
I think u missplaced torrent link for ep 9-10,
My bad, corrected
for subs, I prefer mazui instead SS
oh well, I can always remux it by myself 😀
could someone give me the episode 3 patch, i somehow can`t manage to download it [-_-]
My kingdom for 1080p DDL downloads! Pleaaaase?
http://nom.astoni.sh – if anyone feels kind enough you can use my hosting, up to 4GB per file.
If your worried about slow 1080 torrents, don’t worry the batch will be well seeded
Bring on XI & XII =D
lol,
sorry but I think you misplaced your torrent again
xD
what about ep 13
:wakuwaku:
Fixed
UTW is fine with me
UTW is just fine
Ye just use UTW.
And thanks a lot.
Does anyone know which of the subs are better? Mazui, UTW or SS? I’m not asking for either sub files (not yet =P) but I would like to know which is preferred overall.
SS did amazing styling, different for each character (helps since the show has so many and doesn’t tell you about most of them) I haven’t compared translations carefully though so I can’t comment on that.
Someone who isn’t a qualified translator with several years of study and practical usage or a native Japanese with a very good grasp of English isn’t qualified to judge translations anyway. For the record, SS’s tl is one of the latter.
And someone who’s English only goes as far as neighborhood, high-school, internet or fansub Engrish isn’t qualified to judge editing – which applies most likely to anyone here – including me.
I doubt there are really showstopping errors in either of the three anyway, at worst some lesser or more preferred choice of words.
@asdf and others
That’s simply because most people watch speedsubs and are always biased towards the translation they saw first (unless it’s really bad).
I would use UTW this time just because they have the complete version, even with romaji and kanji in the OP/ED/Insert (I’m not saying mazui or utw is bad, both versions are great!)
@Natsu3, You’re pretty much right there, but from watching the first episode of Amagami SS by Eclipse and UTW I found that Eclipse made more sense and played out more ideal to each situation. Though of course that is clearly my opinion.
@Natsu3
I agree with you that no one here can really differentiate sub translations professionally. I also think its true that you form an attachment with the translation you saw first. I even find shows I watched dubbed first hard to watch subtitled because I am used to it that way.
Watching both, here’s my opinion on the matter. SS tends to have more “elegant” English in their subs. Mazui is more everyday English. I prefer the more elegant translation myself, its more specific in terms of context. Here is a good example from the same line:
.
It just goes to show that their band has real skill and appeal. – Mazui
More like her band has that much skill and charisma. – SS
@Sayer
Don’t confuse SS and Eclipse too easily, although they do joint a lot, they are very different groups on their own.
Not really a good example imho since you need context or at least the previous line.
@ano
>SS tends to have more “elegant” English in their subs. Mazui is more everyday English
You hardly need the context to show this, you can already see it through Mazui using ‘appeal’ and SS using ‘charisma’.
@Natsu I didn’t confuse them at all, I was just using that reference as an example.
@Zanz
real skill and appeal vs charisma
charisma wins hands down as everyday english. 😛
My point though was that SS sentence starts out weird if we don’t know what was said before 😉
Batch please.
I have only seen UTW and Mazui’s versions of Angel Beats, but their subs are usually close to what is actually said/meant by the characters; they just include English articles or implied subjects if it doesn’t make sense for a direct J>E translation. Using them would be cool. Personally, I love Mazui’s use of serif fonts, but that’s just me.
@Sayer: UTW’s font is just so much better than Eclipse’s. Once again, I have only seen UTW’s beyond cosmetic stuff, but their translations are accurate. It’s really simple Japanese, and Raze translates it as everyday English very well as real teenage mono/dialogue.
Anyway, it’s all up to tenshi and coalgirls what they want. I personally just download the releases for your guys’ encodes, since I can’t do it myself. 🙂
I would just like to ask, if this release going to include Eps 13.5 and 14?
It will once i get the BDMV for disk7.
