Dantalian looked better the more bitrate you fed it… all the way up to it being the same size as a remux. Does a remux look noticeably (even if it’s your definition of noticeable) :better: than these encodes? If so, by your own logic, sure… why not. But I highly doubt it does.

  2. Maru! writes:

Don’t mind the sizes, encode everything with 10bit. I heard it improves quality of some scenes without you doing anything just because it’s so awesome.

  3. But writes:

But when will you actually encode something?

  4. AndrewRox22 writes:

Agreed with above- Option 2 please!

  5. phunixid writes:

    please respond
    I can’t understand your question
basically you asked for improving the file size about almost twice

    so I must ask
if it will improve the video quality large enough to make the file size twice of it is?

    if so
I will say go with the remux
if no, it’s better to make the traffic more lightweight

  6. JEFF writes:

what is BD remux can anyone tell me a litte bit about it Q_Q

  7. BThirster writes:

I prefer to be able to download the file so first possibility seems better .

  8. Jo writes:

    Option 1, 10 bit

  9. andimack writes:

    8Gig per episode?! Fuck. That.
    Door #1 please.

  10. DarkChaplain writes:

…I must still be dreaming, both shows I was looking forward to are getting picked up by tenshi?
Reading those filesizes, Gosick doesn’t even seem so abhorrent anymore. Remember, Lagrange is getting a second half in Summer~

  11. sakurahigh writes:

    nice! Tenshi +1

  12. AlexTo writes:

For me an episode >4GB is over is overkill so it’ll be more than 50GB for the series so option 1 and 2 out the question 720p will have to do. However, if i have to choose I’ll go with option #1 at least is less than 8GB ep 🙂

  13. banger writes:

i vote for #1 – Leave it as is

will be too hard to download any bigger

  14. Heyer writes:

I’ll say leave the series as it is.
Still alot less than the remux

  15. Frollino writes:

    ->2012 I want the remux.

  16. Gen writes:

Option 1, 10 bit. 8 gigs an episode is ridiculous.

  17. writes:

Hi Tenshi, I don’t think 4.7GBs per episode will be enough bitrate wise, so please make it a remux. Thanks! You’re a great encoder, no matter what anybody says!

  18. blargh writes:

“You’re a great encoder, but please remux and don’t encode anything.”

    Yeah…

  19. Hark0n writes:

Since I would need a new HDD to download any version, I would say – remux just for the fun and more angry comments.

P.S. For any one who does not knows what remux is: “A remux is an untouched version of the series/movie. It is a direct 1-1 copy of the video (& audio) files. “

  20. Julio writes:

Does this show require a lot of bitrate? I have yet to see this show since I decided to wait until the season is over.

What does BD remuxes do? Do you basically rip the BDMV by extracting each episode and simply muxing the subs in without actually encoding anything? Basically a RAW BD video with subtitles? If that is the case, go for option 2. If you are going for big filesizes already, then go all the way!

  21. Nettosama writes:

Encode, use 10bit. Maybe use OC for the OP that needs a lot of bitrate to look good.

  22. writes:

    @blargh

A remux would obviously provide the best quality. That doesn’t contradict the fact that Tenshi is nonetheless a great encoder. learn2logicfag

  23. pigoz writes:

Remuxing the BD would be obviously for the best. 8gb/episode is very small.. We are in 2012 after all!

  24. Binorath writes:

    Option #1 please.

Just compare the download numbers (even though it’s not the completly same situation) of Dantalian no Shoka: 881 Remux vs. 1756 720p Batch… so over 2:1 people don’t want remuxes in my eyes

  25. anime4myIs writes:

option 2: not in a hurry to watch it again just yet.

  26. SirDerply writes:

Do what you must to have a badass encode/release. Filesize whiners need to:

    1) Find some other Sub group
    2) Get a new ISP without caps (or speed limits). This means move or deal with it.
    3) Get a better computer and/or storage device.

    Option 2.

    Whaaaaaaa 10bit, Whaaaaaaaaaa filesize

  27. Kel writes:

I suppose I’ll try asking the obvious: why will your encode will be so large? (ie: can this be reasonably justified?)

  28. Mizui writes:

    Option 2.

If it makes a noticeable difference in the final release that isn’t filesize, do it.

  29. Anononono writes:

Personally, I don’t like this series enough to justify that size. If I liked the series more I would be all for the size though.

  30. Anononono writes:

Opening theme is the shit though 🙂

  31. anotn17 writes:

Fuck the haters Coalgirls. Option 2, all day, every day.

I download bluray releases because I want the best – if I was satisfied with less I’d just keep the speedsub releases.

  32. Noko writes:

    Option two, obviously.

  33. TentacleTan writes:

I guess it can’t be helped, if 1080p is already around 5GB per episode an extra 3GB wouldn’t hurt.
    RIP Denpa banner.

  34. ShadowVlican writes:

    voting for option 1

  35. Zalis writes:

Why does “The calendar says some random year” justify any belief or opinion as unquestionably correct? Like “It’s 2011, so it’s wrong to hardsub” or “They’re not including honorifics, in 2009 no less”.

Not like I care though, do whatever you want… I’ll just feel free to watch the streams or get NemDiggers’ release.

  36. Linzhen writes:

option 2 please, we r all getting greedy with the advanced quality anime

    OPTION 2!

  37. amen665 writes:

    >Filesize whiners need to:

when was coalgirls a sub group? more like a sub rip group.

im getting the 720p version so……. yeah, 1080p is overkill imo (im just sayin this cause my lap can’t play 1080p).

  38. Verix writes:

“8gb/episode is very small.. ” what?
I’ll be getting the 720p version, I think the BD remux for 1080p would make more sense if your encodes already end up so big.

  39. ofislacker writes:

Coalgirls asking for opinions? Wow…that’s a first for me. I’m fine anyway, but does this only applies for the 1080?

Also, can I have a reply for my post in Clannad? Thanks!

  40. Kuromii writes:

Big filesizes are no problem in this day and age, I say go for the absolute best quality where possible!

  41. Crapini writes:

Do not think of size (its cheap to get a HDD nowadays) decreasing size while sacrificing quality is blasphemy! Go for the best possible quality! ^_^

P.S. You are by far my favorite encoders ^_^

    …dear God this is laughable

  43. Aerozuki writes:

    8bit=FAIL

    10bit+additional bitrate overkill=WIN

    BD remux=Acceptable or even nice.

I don’t care about size, because I have almost 54 TB of HDD space with about 40 TB empty. Out of the empty space more than half are Sata III 6GB/s drives, with everything being controlled by an i7 990X Extreme Edition OCed to 4.8 and liquid cooled to high heaven. My webz connection is 50 mb/s Down & 25 mb/s Up, so it wouldn’t take all that long to leech. At first I was thinking, since this will be a 24 ep series with S1 and S2 coming out at almost 200 GD, as a BD remux, is it really worth the space? Then I concluded that I don’t give a f#ck as long as it’s not 8bit.

  46. SirDerply writes:

@amen665: I stand corrected, but the point still exists.

Another option: Buy or d/l the BD and do it yourself.

  47. fan writes:

to the people wanting a lower file size, go see the show on a website that streams crappy quality.

i dont mind the bigger file size.

  48. azyos writes:

I’ll go with option #2 also.
In my opinion you guys should just do BD remuxes for ALL shows.

  49. Daniel writes:

Just use Commie karaoke, imo it looks better than Underwaters

  50. Kel writes:

Why, though, will this particular encode be so large? I’m not following this show so I don’t know if the entire thing is filled with scenes that demand a heavier bitrate, but if that’s the case it might be reasonable. But is that really true? What about this show demands such a heavy bitrate?
