1080p is a remux due to heavy grain.
This grain is intense … make sure that you have a really good computer if you plan to watch the 1080p version.
Revo’s got you beat on size by .01 GB. Sorry I only download the biggest releases (which are obviously the best) so I’ll be going with them.
>Mardock Scramble: The First Compression
>Compression
they were trolling hard when they thought of that name and added millions of grain
@Not A Tro
RevoHD’s release is a remux too.
“We tried re-encoding to 1080p, but even with 10bit we ended up with a file that was bigger than the source due to the massive grain, hence: remux.”
So that means that this is still 8bit? Coz I am using XBMC to watch on the big screen and 10bit isn’t supported yet, unfortunately.
Yes, the 1080p is 8bit.
The 720p however is 10bit.
Thanks, guess I’ll go download the 1080p version then. 🙂
Sorry, but in the end, which of the versions is higher quality? 1080p 8-bit or 720p 10-bit?
Wait… how can you get an encode larger then the source? Wasn’t the source a freaking BD?
A BD itself is compressed using AVC. 25 minutes of uncompressed 1080p video is usually about 120 GB at minimum. The encoder essentially uncompresses the AVC and recompresses it. So if the efficiency is less than the AVC encoder used by the BD studio, it will be bigger.
The studio encoder just gets limited to 36 Mbit/s for the Blu-ray specs. However, when we re-encode, we don’t do that, so x264 might end up eating even more bit-rate to preserve the quality which easily happens with grainy sources.
So are the colors better in the 720p compared to the 1080p version as of now? And @ChrisK, by “really good computer” what exactly do you mean, do you think a quad core phenom II @ ~3.8GHz would handle it?
10Bit does not magically improve colors (without filtering). The 720p encode is unfiltered so it won’t look better than the 1080p remux.
Yes, that should do it. My Mobile Core i7 however ended up lagging in during some action scenes :/
Remux for the win. Movie looks interesting, I’ll give it a try.
If the 1080p is amenable to the videocard’s hardware acceleration (DXVA or CUDA) then you won’t need awesome processor specs in your computer.
ehehehe… quality…… ya know most people actually would not even notice the difference when watching… be it 720p or 1080p.. i let 5 of my friends watch this one anime episode. 2x… the first watch in 720p and the second watch in 1080p.. i asked them.. notice any difference?….. not even a word from em.. hehe.. but hey i myself love high quality releases.. its just that the filesize is massive. hehe.. and ofcourse time to buy a new computer or i wont be able to enjoy watching the 1080 releases. hehe…
@Johny, Normal Earthlings don’t have our pixel-sensing skillz 😀
So what did you do to the 720p version? I hope you retained some of the grain in there. Or was it smaller simply due to the fact of the resolution change?
Yes it is just smaller due to the resolution change.
Cyras,
what about Maria Holic S2? vol1, vol2 already out.
where did the pic came from? share link plz

@Rai. haha ya got that right bro ^_^
Sorry for the noob question, but does this “grain” thing require more processing power or a better video card? I really want to watch this.
Downloading 1080p just because it isn’t 10-bit. Thanks for the release.
Cyras by Remux you mean that is straight from the raw with changed script?
@Martin
How are those VHS tapes holding up for you?
i want to download the 1080p version, but i’ve got a feeling my laptop might not be able to run 34Mbps. since this is a remux, would this be dxva compatible? (unlike most other CG releases)
laptop specs:
cpu: C2D @ 2.53ghz
gpu: ati hd4650
it can play 1080p 10-bit just fine, even with karaoke (the Bakemonogatari release).
any answer would be appeciated.
Your CPU will probably fail, but the 1080p version should play fine with DXVA.
Hello i downloading the 1080p version, my laptop is enable to play?
the specs
C2D T9400 2.53 GHz
4GB RAM
Nvidia 9700GT 512MB
Until now i didn’t have any problems i can watch everything 1080p & 720p an it can also play 10-bit movies. Only Macross Frontier i download 1-2 episodes an i think that some times i saw some lag… and i stop the downloading 🙁
Thank you!
no ddl for crf13 but ddl for remux :\
This is a movie.
ah ok
I would like to apologize about asking if my specs would run it, I now see that many people, seeing how you answered my question, have been asking you about theirs, which must be irritating. And also, sorry for the dumb 10bit > remux question, I have no idea why, but when I asked that I though that it was encdoing from 24bit -> 8bit color on the 1080p, and 24bit -> 10bit on the 720p, but then I realized that the 1080p is a remux, and preserves the original colors. Also, are any Anime Blu-Rays even done in 24bit color, or does AVC compress to 8bit regardless?
8 * 3 = 24
When people say 8 or 10 bit, they mean per R/G/B color (or Y Cb Cr component).
Otherwise video would look like a GIF animation.
ugh i hate all the grain…makes it look so bad
Great movie, cliffhanger ending makes me a sad panda though… Not to be unexpected with a trilogy I guess.
Any idea on when you’ll have a copy of #2 to work with? How long did it take the first one to hit BD after airing?
I should know this but unfortunately I don’t, what do you mean by remux? I saw BluDragon use it on his 1080p release of Bleach M2 and now here.
Is this saying you used the source as the exact same video file, hence the reason why the 1080 is 8bit like the original file?
yes
Unfortunately the torrent link for the 1080p version isn’t working well. I’m using uTorrent and the message I’m getting is “An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions”. Is there something wrong with the torrent, or is it me?
@Bill
You should buy an ISP, that should fix it.
Is anyone else getting audio delays along with short audio dropouts?
I have:
Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 2.4 GHz
4.00 GB RAM
GeForce GTX 460
Thanks
^^
Not with:
Intel Core i5-2500 Processor 3.3GHz 6 MB Cache Socket LGA1155
8GB RAM
Radeon 5450
Lastest CCCP
omfg…. this is the first time a 720p (hi10) video wouldn’t play on my laptop, guess i’ll have 2 break out the desktop.
thx 4 the release, didn’t even know this anime existed till i seen it here.
Coalgirls’ 1080p release of Mardock Scramble: The First Compression is released using the literal first compression. How interesting.
The 1080p plays fine on my 4 year old system, although the coloration looks strange. I’m not sure if that’s just the way it’s supposed to look or if the ffdshow used in the latest CCCP is having rendering issues.
Q6600 @ 3.2
4GB Ram
GTX260
i already download the movie 1080p at my laptop it works fine! nice! i hope for the 2nd movie come out fast!!
i have downloaded the 1080p version
currently using MPC-HC + MadVR and it lags arround all the movie
system:
Core i7 Q720 @1.60
6.00 GB ram
Nvidia GeForce 330M
so my computer is not the issue here
@Feletroica
Core i7 Q720 @1.60
that’s definitely the issue here.
My mobile i7 works fine, but then again, I have an ati 5870m which is pretty sick.
I can’t get the 720p to play on my setup. I have a core2duo laptop with 3GB ram and ati 3400 HD.
First I tried my normal setup of CCCP beta+MPC, but the audio kept cutting out and there were slowdown problems. I tried the steps in the evr playback guide and it was incredibly slow. PowerDVD just gives me a black screen. Most recent mplayer seems like it was playing fine, but then started getting out of sync.
You guys are usually my goto group for HD encodes you I hope all your future releases aren’t the same.
I just wanted to post back to say that, after viewing the BD, the strange coloration (excessive green tinge) is just the way it’s supposed to look.
1080p is just so big, can anyone tell me if this movie is really worth downloading, considering the huge file size?… If it is good then I’ll download it happily!… ^_^
my laptop can play the 1080p version! it’s a miracle! lol
Could the Playstation 3 play the 1080p version? I know its mkv, I mean after converting the audio to ac3, using mkv2vob and all that
Can Playstation 3 play the 1080p? I know its mkv and flac, Ive converted several movies using mkv2vob and all that but never a 16 gigabyte movie
oh sorry for the double post
@hmm
Don’t convert, just play with streaming softwares such as PS3 Media Server. Although watching this on a good computer + monitor is far superior.
Just finished watching this awesome movie. Can’t wait for the second one to come out !
If they make a live action .. i vote for Takashii Miike!
