No worries about Tsukimonogatari. And far more importantly, thank you so very much for sticking with the Monogatari series! Everyone else covering Monogatari BDs has stalled into limbo. We leechers really do appreciate all your hard work — and this series in particular is definitely hard work.

  3. Newser writes:

No one else seems to be doing BDs, so it’s really nice that you devoted some of your time to release it. Hopefully someone else will do Tsukimonogatari

  4. Eruzo writes:

    Thanks for completing the series.

  5. HamsterCurry writes:

God bless coalgirl. Thank you for this series!

Can someone explain why Tsukimonogatari is dropped? Is it because the plot sucks or there is simply no interest in doing it? Not complaining but just curious.

  6. anon-niisama writes:

What’s the deal with Tsukimonogatari? Don’t tell me the series has a crappy ending.

  7. Obama-senpai writes:

Tsukimonogatari is dropped because of tradition, amirite ☜(゚ヮ゚☜)
anyways, thanks so much for this excellent release!

  8. Rei writes:

on one hand, I’m pretty disappointed to find out that you dropped Tsuki.
on the other hand, I’m glad you provided an estimated release date “in the ZERO PERCENT DEFINITELY NOT GOING TO HAPPEN IN A MILLION YEARS CHANCE” that you do undrop it

mmm, thanks a lot? is it enough? XD
btw, couldn’t find hidden patches this time… or maybe it’s too soon?
anyway, as soon they are out I’ll seed, as usual.
I like your drop policy btw 😉

    Question

why the order still messed up even after you made a batch?

are the BDs and TV in different order? or it just some sort of obsession to mess up the order since many fansubs groups mess it up back then when the show aired?

I honestly waited for the BDs ONLY because I wanted normal order but looking at you torrent I rise question mark as for what order to choose,

what are the difference in the sequential, broadcast, and the default order?

did the TV had unsequential order?

    Thanks

  18. nameless writes:

did the TV had unsequential order? –> cause they want to create “suspence”?
    broadcast —> broadcast!
sequential should be the timeline, dunno default.
btw, they did provide reordering patches man… so nothing is messed up, everybody can have it’s preferred order.

    • coalgirl writes:

Yes, the author wrote the story in anachronological order. This was to create mysteries and suspense. It’s not like Haruhi which could be watched in either order.

The appropriate chronological order (Season 1 + 2):
      1. Kizumonogatari (Volume 3, Still not out)
      2. Nekomonogatari Kuro (Volume 6)
      3. Bakemonogatari (Volume 1 + 2)
      4. Nisemonogatari (Volume 4+5)
      5. Kabukimonogatari (Volume 8)
      6. Onimonogatari (Volume 11)
      7. Nekomonogatari Shiro (Volume 7)
      8. Otorimonogatari (Volume 10)
      9. Koimonogatari (Volume 12)
      10. Hanamonogatari (Volume 9)

The story order is ALWAYS the same, there are just different ways to organise/number/group them, as explained in the readme.

  21. ZENSX writes:

finally I get to experience Hanamonogatari in CoalGirls’ flavor!

thank you for all the hard work!

  22. anon writes:

Did you edit CR or Daisuki subs for Hanamonogatari?

  23. Anonymous writes:

Would it be possible to make a patch that turns Hanamonogatari into one long ep with the ED at the beginning and the OP at the end like how it aired?

  24. Caparazo writes:

    So…Tsukimonogatari when? :^)

  25. hussain writes:

umm guys… wikipedia says there should be 26 episodes of monogatari 2nd season but there are only 23 in this torrent… can someone please explain?

  26. hoseofsnake writes:

    @hussain
    no recap eps on bd

  27. Kappa writes:

So gotta wait until April? Alright.
    Take your time.
    Thank you for your work!
    Have a wonderful day.

  28. Anon writes:

Just asking , is nekomonogatari is the same as this ?
    http://coalgirls.wakku.to/8131/nekomonogatari

  29. rude writes:

No, not the same. There’s two Nekomonogatari’s. That link is Nekomonogatari Kuro (Black) and it is before Bakemonogatari series (S1). The Nekomonogatari on this is page is Nekomonogatari Shiro (White) (S2). You’ll understand when you watch the difference.

Look above in the replied comment to nameless for the order if you want to watch it that way or watch it as it aired. Go to MAL for that.

  30. Anon writes:

    @rude : okay , thanks Rude 😀

isnt this series 26 episodes? and hana is 5 episodes? why is it 23 and 5 instead of 26 and 5.

  35. jofo writes:

woops just found out that the 3 episodes were recaps and they were not included. 🙂

  36. ronri writes:

Thanks for the inclusion of Hanamonogatari Coalgirls! Your Monogatari BD releases have always been the best. Keep up the good work! ^_^

  37. bd writes:

Its 26 episodes and 5 hanamonogatari, but the 3 recap episodes, which are on the blu rays arent included here, and it is no big deal since you should just watch the first season instead.

  38. Blackman writes:

Why is Tsukimonogatari dropped and literal garbage like Nisekoi is supported with a shit-eating grin?

  39. Dave writes:

Did you decide against making a playallnoOPED.mkv for hanamonogatari, or just not think about it?
Missing out on that TV experience.

    • coalgirl writes:

I was considering it, but I was trying to release Hana as part of the S2 torrent instead of a standalone, as I believe it should have been (the official webpage says similarly). So a playall would only work if I did one for every arc.

  40. Nomen writes:

Why no preview quizzes in Hana? Neko Kuro was released in a same manner and got them in BD. Did SHAFT skipped it this time?

  41. montillo writes:

Thank you so much for this Coalgirls, I really appreciate your hard work.
Btw, are the commentaries subbed? If so, are they worth watching?

  42. Mkilbride writes:

I do not understanding this order shit at all and the readme doesn’t explain ANYTHING, nor does the wiki, nor does googling.

    What the fuck?

  43. Red Light writes:

    Thank you!

  44. bd writes:

just watch it in order of the Arc numbering, (order of TV air dates)

    Arc 1: Nekomonogatari: Shiro
    Arc 2: Kabukimonogatari
    Arc 3: Otorimonogatari
    Arc 4: Onimonogatari
    Arc 5: Koimonogatari
    Arc 6: Hanamonogatari

or watch it in order of Novel releases:

    Monogatari Series: Second Season (Novel)
    Vol.1: Nekomonogatari: Shiro
    Vol.2: Kabukimonogatari
    Vol.3: Hanamonogatari
    Vol.4: Otorimonogatari
    Vol.5: Onimonogatari
    Vol.6: Koimonogatari

Airing Order: The Order You Should Watch It In

The airing order of the show is also the recommended watch order of the show. If you intend to watch the show, watch it in this order. I also suggest you do not read past this point, as there are some very minor spoilers ahead in the chronological explanation.

Bakemonogatari (Monstory, Ghostory) is the first part of the first season and covers the first two novels, Bakemonogatari volume 1 and volume 2. It contains the the stories Hitagi Crab, Mayoi Snail, Suruga Monkey, Nadeko Snake and Tsubasa Cat. It is 15 episodes long and contains 5 arcs.

Nisemonogatari (Fake Story, Impostory) is the second part of the first season and covers the fourth and fifth novels named Nisemonogatari volume 1 and volume 2. Nisemonogatari contains the stories Karen Bee and Tsukihi Phoenix. It is 11 episodes long with 2 arcs.

Nekomonogatari:Kuro (Cat Story: Black) is the sixth novel in the series, and is volume 1 of Nekomonogatari. It contains the prequel story Tsubasa Family. It is part of the first season and was a 4 episode special. It is only one arc.

Monogatari Series Second Season, is the second season of the show. It covers novels seven through twelve, excluding Hanamonogatari, the ninth novel. It is 26 episodes long with 5 arcs and 3 recap episodes. The novels that are covered are (in order of appearance):
Nekomonogatari:Shiro (Cat Story: White), the second volume of Nekomonogatari, containing the story Tsubasa Tiger. Novel 7
Kabukimonogatari (Slope Story) containing the story Mayoi Jiangshi. Novel 8.
Otorimonogatari (Decoy Story) containing the story Nadeko Medusa. Novel 10.
Onimonogatari (Demon Story) containing the story Shinobu Time. Novel 11.
Koimonogatari (Love Story) containing the story Hitagi End. Novel 12.

Hanamonogatari (Flower Story) is a portion of the second season of the show, Monogatari Series Second Season. It contains novel 9, with the story Suruga Devil. It is 5 episodes long and contains 1 arc.

Tsukimonogatari (Possession Story) is the start of the third season of the show which is called (as a whole) Monogatari Series Final Season. It is the 13th novel, with the story Yotsugi Doll. It is 4 episodes long and contains 1 arc.

    To Be Released:

Kizumonogatari (Scar Story, Damaged Goods Story), is a yet to be released movie and the third released novel. It contains the prequel story Koyomi Vamp. It is unknown when the movie is set to be released, though it was originally intended to be released before Nisemonogatari. It is considered as a part of the first season.

Should I just download Hana if I already have everything up to it? Or is it worth getting the entire batch?

    • coalgirl writes:

There were various quality fixes made in previous episodes, so I’d advise getting it all.

  47. mike writes:

so all the OP and ED are separated from the main story?

  48. ronri writes:

Just wondering about Hanamonogatari. With the BD release, was the ED and OP switched from its original broadcast version?

I noticed that all the broadcast versions I found had used the fully animated sequence (with the basket ball scene and all) as the ED as opposed to the OP (basically it’s reversed from the norm) and it made for an interesting choice in terms of direction. Checking my files, it seems that it’s been reversed. In this regard, did you purposely switch it from the broadcast version yourselves, or was this purposely done on the BD release itself?

    • coalgirl writes:

It was done on the BD itself for all episodes. Episode 5 was the only interesting one. This had two versions – one with OP first, ED last, the other with ED first, OP last. We chose to use the OP first/ED last on that one because that was the one that was in the right sequence in m2ts numbering, and had the commentaries, so we assumed it was meant as the default one.

  49. ronri writes:

@coalgirl: Huh that definitely makes me curious. I know it’s too late, but it would’ve been interesting to have the last one reversed as a thematic cap-off to the story since I thought it made for a cathartic viewing experience with the broadcast versions (specifically, after watching the whole thing, since you finally get the whole picture of the story, you can realize and understand the full context behind the OP’s animated sequences, with it being the “missing link” of Kanbaru and Numachi’s history). Still I should mention this isn’t to knock against you guys, just that it would’ve been interesting if there was an option to switch the OP/ED for the last episode.
