So we have reached the end of this anime. Mixed feelings about this, but I do hope we get to see another season of Hunter X Hunter in the future.

It has been quite the project, starting a couple of years ago or so. I’ve had my ups and downs when it comes to releasing episodes “on time”, but at least I reached the finish line. Overall, I did enjoy working on this anime a lot. But, this project is not really over…

With the end of TV project, I will go back to working on the Hunter X Hunter Blu-rays. I still have a lot to do, and there won’t be any releases before the final batch.

    Hey Cyras,

thanks for your work and effort. I hope you wont drop this (well, if you have to, then there is no choice). Happy New Year folks.

  2. Sam writes:

Yeah i like your subs the most. When i see people like you putting this much effort for the fans, i want to do something in return. So i think that in a near future, when i’ll have the time and the requirements, i’ll do some subbing too. 🙂

  3. PescadorGama writes:

Happy new year! and thanks for HxH! I always wait for your chapters (not adding presure xD just trying to tell you how much I enjoy your chapters and how grateful I am!)

is it better to watch this version – which is the re-make – or to watch the original 1999 series?

I know the re-make goes further in terms of material but does it have the same content as the original 1999 series?

    • Cyras writes:

Any stubborn fan of the old HxH anime would agree with replytowisee, but I say watch the new one. You won’t be missing out on anything important in the old version, and if you go from the old one to the new one, it will be troublesome with the change of animation and voice cast.

Madhouse have done a great job with this series, watching the old one now would be a waste.

  5. replytowisee writes:

watch the 1999 version first and then continue with the new version at the end of greed island (if the new version passes greed island)

  6. PescadorGama writes:

Watch the old version first. It surpases the new one if you are patient enough to go along with each chapter taking its time to get to you. Watch the new one if you just want to watch the series really fast. I like to compre it as eating food… you cand do it slowly or faster. Some people just want to get to the end while others like me, likes to enjoy the ride.

  7. replytowisee writes:

Now that I think about it, Cyras is right. There’s a big chance that you won’t enjoy watching the new one after the 1999 due to the huge change (voices, general feel, animation, etc.) So I’d suggest you try out both, a few episodes of each and decide which one you prefer.

Personally, I think Madhouse started out a bit poorly with this version, but I’m now able to see the improvements and am beginning to enjoy the show as time goes by. I still, however, prefer the old version because the art is drawn better, camera angles are better, animation is more fluid and it has that great feeling to it. Just my opinion though.

  8. FinalFan writes:

Thanks for the release, when the size is decent, I always grab your version.
I have one question about the video, is it from TV and you cut the 10 sec stuff (you know with coloured kanji) beetween op and title and at the very end of the episode, or do you take and filter video from crunchyroll?

    I hope I don’t sound like a troll…

    • Cyras writes:

I take it from CR. Their video is actually a better source than TV for this one. The quality on the streams from the channel HxH airs on is really poor, so there is no reason to use transportstreams in this case.

  9. wisee writes:

Okay, thanks for the replies; I’ll stick with this one till the end. I may well enjoy the show so much that it could possibly make me watch the older version!

  10. Chii writes:

Thanks for your releases and your hard work! This series is amazing and you do justice to it.
I was just wondering, as I looked on your profile Cyras, that you stalled the Hunter x Hunter BD because of the lack of BDMVs, I just found a site that has up to Vol. 11 I believe of the Hunter x Hunter BDMVs, is that still too little?
I would like to see this series in Blu-ray and in your subs, but if you’re keeping the Blu-ray stalled, that’s okay, I will wait patiently. Thank you.

    • Cyras writes:

It was a long time ago that I stalled the BD releases due to lack of BDMVs. Vol 6-8 were later uploaded all at the same time, and I resumed my work. But then it was supposed to be a box in october, and I decided to wait once again to see if it got uploaded.

Looking on Share now, and Vol 9-11 were uploaded now in january. This is probably the boxset that was released in october, just that they split it into volumes on share. Another boxset was released in december, so as you can see they are rather slow at sharing the Hunter X Hunter BDMVs. But if you can share the site you found the vols on, that could be helpful 🙂

  11. Chii writes:

I see, I understand how late the BDMVs are uploaded, as the one I found was just recently uploaded and as you said, the Blu-ray was released in October.
I found mine on the site http://www.r2raw.com, though I don’t know whether or not the site would be that helpful to you.
Hopefully they’ll get faster at uploading Hunter x Hunter BDMVs, but I guess, having it being uploaded at all is better than nothing.

Zetsu instead of Hatsu. I downloaded the 01-60 batch Last Week.

  13. Mubs writes:

    Hi Cyras,
    Have you dropped this anime?

I need to know whether I should just watch the subs provided by somebody else as I’ve been waiting for your release for 2 weeks.

Thanks again for all the hard work!

  14. Zubs22 writes:

@Mubs: This group seems to be pretty much dead overall. A few signs of life here and there, but nothing. Nothing from coalgirl in along time as well.

  15. Paxton writes:

@Zubs : Dead ? yeah, a group has a week (or 2 but who cares) and it’s flagged dead ? hmm yeah whatever… Speed-subbing is a really f*ck**g bad thing to take for granted.

  16. Paxton writes:

*a week (or 2 but who cares) of delay

  17. random writes:

Well two weeks is far too long considering ~90% of the work on this is done by Crunchyroll.

Cyras really doesn’t have to do much at all.

  18. ivse writes:

Waiting patiently for the 62 and 63 episodes.

  19. Pescador_Gama writes:

vacations? enjoy them you deserve them! =D

  20. Cyras writes:

    You guys are to funny…
“2 weeks” late = dead? Ok then.
First, just because there are 2 episodes that are missing, doesn’t make it so that I’m 2 weeks late. I’m 1 week and 2 days behind people, not 2 weeks. I was too busy to do HxH last week, and started working on 62 and 63 yesterday.
    Second, 90%?
Third, thank you guys that have some… I don’t know if it’s worth calling patience. It’s been 1 week guys…

  21. Allan Petabyte writes:

    @Cryas
Thank you for your patience with all the impatient people.

  22. Ikaros000 writes:

Firstly, Thank You for the episodes 🙂

Secondly, why are people getting so angry over a few episodes that are out “later” than what they expected…

  23. ivse writes:

Thanks for your work. Been patient pays up. One of the things I have learned been a Tool fan. Downloadin eps.

  24. wisee writes:

it’s simple, really; if you don’t have the patience then go watch it elsewhere.

  25. Link2link8 writes:

Thanks Cyras , I suprised people are complaining, I was expecting something like this anyway it didn’t matter if I had patience or not to be honest, considering it’s worth the wait at the end of the day in my opinion.

People can either not download it or download a HS version and then this one for storing/re-watching.

  26. Enn writes:

Many, many thanks. Great show, great subbing.

  27. Rock Paper Insert writes:

is there any difference in video quality between this and horrible-subs? debating replacing all with Cyras’s version.

  28. IZEROII writes:

^ This is horrible subs. It’s technically not retail since it’s not being ripped from a “retail” ie R1 disk but it’s essentially the same in this case.

Cyras if you start doing the BDs again since right now I’m just getting them from SG for now, think about redoing your 1-6 in favor of not doing ordered chapters. Everyone hates that shit man. Those OPs and EDs are saving <100mb… Your project. I'm just saying.

  29. Antoine writes:

Hi! Just wanted to say I’m very grateful for your subs. I wait every Sunday to download your release! 🙂

  30. John writes:

Thanks alot for this Cyras, I pay for CR but hxh is not licensed in my country (sweden) so your a lifesaver! really love the show. Thanks for all your work!

  31. Eren writes:

Thanks for all your work when will you publish 66th episode

  32. Mubs writes:

Sorry for the misunderstanding Cyras. Appreciate all the hard work.

  33. Shinnru writes:

    Thanks for great work!!

  34. Martynas writes:

When new series will be out ? :S. I`m waiting for them so much : )) Thanks for great work. : D

  35. Asd writes:

  38. Pescador_Gama writes:

you are going to make her stop doing the subs… cmon, the last chapter she didn’t upload had TOO MANY cards and that shit is really troublesome… good news is that soon GI is over. and no more fancy cards ever again.

  39. marshead writes:

Pescador has it right, ease up on Cyras! She does quality subs suitable for archiving, not speed-subs. If you are desperate, watch another sub. In the meantime, have patience (or do both like I do!).

66 was a mess with the cards. I don’t envy the job the Cyras is doing right now. Haven’t seen 67 yet but I bet its the same.

  40. why writes:

Okay, that’s fine, but I bet at least one of the eps is done but she isn’t releasing it because she wants to release them all at once. It happened with 62/63 and it’ll happen with these eps too.

It’s an annoying practice that seems to be getting more common with fansubbers. They think releasing all at once looks cool or something, I guess.

  41. Paxton writes:

@Why : Or option 2, life and shit and she (or he ? don’t really know) doesn’t have the time to sub.
Anyway, releasing a pack of 2 eps is fine and I don’t care. If you’re in a hurry (yeah, right…) there are plenty of other teams doing the show, so start your google and stop ranting…
If you want to know what happens next, you can still go and buy the manga… and complain that Togashi is a lazy ass ’cause he did not release a single chapter for almost a year…

  42. Cresando writes:

I don’t mind as long as the quality of the video is superb.

  43. Sortvind writes:
