I’ve played it just fine in my ~4 years-old desktop:

    Phenom X3 8400 @ 2.1 GHz
    RAM 2 X 2 GB @ 800 MHz
    HIS HD4670 1GB GDDR3,

I’ve tried it with no DXVA and it plays 720p just fine, using the gpu rendering in MPC , bicubic 0.75, 1080p lags though, but with DXVA it plays smoothly on my system, so I guess any discrete graphics that can handle DXVA could play it.

1080p plays great on my pc.

player: potplayer + lavfilter/coreavc (fine whatever I choose between this 2) + madvr (softcubic 100 on all algorithms) + haali media splitter + madflac.

    spec: C2D E7500 @ 3.37 ghz
    gpu ati 4550
    ram 2 Gb 800 mhz

plays fine on most videos except 1080p 10-bit. 720p 10-bit is fine tough.

  3. ika writes:

    BTW

I don’t use DXVA ’cause my old pc’s gpu can’t handle it with madvr (DXVA with madvr possible only on potplayer…..correct me if I’m wrong)

The 1080p plays just fine on my old PC:

    C2Q 8300 @3.225MHz
    DFI LPLT X38-T2R
    Gskill F2 4x2GB kit @1033MHz
    XFX HD4870 1GB GDDR5
    7.1 spk + Audigy 2 ZS
    Win server 2008 R2 SP1
    WMP 12 + K-lite mega

CPU usage around 10%, GPU usage around 5% (with DXVA enabled)..

  6. LeechKing writes:

    WTF!.. 7.5GB for 720p..
    How long the duration btw?

  7. QQLeechKing writes:

@LeechKing I fail to see the problem.

  8. AzoLto writes:

    Delicious.

  9. nx6 writes:

@LeechKing: It’s about an hour long. Part one was the same size for 720p. If you want smaller you can always wait for THORA.

  10. Alex writes:

I’m assuming these are three movies and not parts of a single movie.

  11. Tatsujin writes:

Looking forward to the release of the third movie. I’m saving these for an EPIC movie night for this anime. Thanks, ChrisK.

  12. gew writes:

that new banner dont fit with the red on the side that well

  13. Watari writes:

…thanks Coalgirls for this movie. I’ll wait for the last part, so I hope you’ll finish this project.

  14. Coolicer writes:

Thank a fucking lot guys! (no sarcasm intended) Was really looking forward to this release!
Probably have to get some movie snacks for tonight 🙂

  15. Alex writes:

    @ChrisK

    Thanks for clearing that up.

  16. Fatman311 writes:

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

I’ve been waiting for the second movie for ages now and I’m insensately pleased to know you guys are still doing Mardock Scramble.

  17. Keionyan writes:

There are no subs (q_q) I tried CCCP, Media Classic Player and VLC… english subs or japanese subs in the subtitle menu nothing works. What am I doing wrong? I got the 720p btw.

  18. skyhack writes:

It’s pretty (although that’s about it for me), but I think it’s too bad they didn’t use the artist that was originally planned.

I guess Murata is too wrapped up with Robot and Gonzo.

  19. Keionyan writes:

Am I the only one not having subs? (q_q)

  20. Mr.Linen writes:

Oh please christ let this be second compression I’m downloading.

  21. de-es writes:

    Thanks a lot, coalgirls 🙂

Saw someone writing about DXVA – I personally disabled it due to other reasons. With DXVA enabled on my GTX570, the card goes into high-power mode, which basically… consumes much more power compared to CPU-only rendering. Remember to not enable DXVA if you don’t need it.

  22. luizk writes:

    thank u so much

  23. ronri writes:

Thanks for this ChrisK! I’ve been waiting for the second part for a long while now and so I was happy to see this at the front (as well as the banner). =D

  24. PolarBernd writes:

    need the ost soo much ;_;

  25. razki writes:

thx for the movie coalgirls !!!

  26. Saya writes:

I have just finished downloading the 1080p version of the first movie, it can be played, but there is always a white noise (like the “snow” on a TV screen when there is no signal) and it doesn’t look like HD… I have watched 720p version of the movie (not downloaded from here) and it looks much better than this one.
    I’m using the newest MPC-HC.
    Please help…

    Thank you very much.

  27. Diemeow23 writes:

Yup yup here too! White noise everywhere makes things a little bit iffy but somehow leaves a taste of tangelos in one’s mouth…either way! White noise!

  28. fratal writes:

slowly going insane while waiting for the third part. I guess it would be a little optimistic to think next year means new years day…

Heya i’m for the primary time here. I found this board and I in finding It truly useful & it helped me out much. I’m hoping to give something back and help others such as you aided me.

  31. Obamanation writes:

I’m seeing lots of fuzz when playing them; anyone know how to fix?

  32. Placek writes:

Is there any ETA on third part? MAL says it was aired almost a year ago, and still no BD release date?

  33. BakaBasher writes:

How come you dont have this in dual audio?

  34. fratal writes:

throwing my comment in here just to let you know that we are waiting for this.
you enjoy watching us suffer, don’t you…

anyways I will still be waiting this time next year, and the year after that, etc.
don’t blame me if I hate you just a little bit.

  35. Dos writes:

Looks like the release date for the third bluray is September 25, 2013, taken from amazon.co.jp.
Can’t wait to get my hands on it. :>

  36. Bloodios writes:

Four more days till the release of the third episode/movie, although who knows how long it’ll take before the BDMV is available for sharing…

  37. Anon writes:

Thanks for your work so far, it’s awesome.
Any news about the third movie? I think the Blu-ray should be out by now.

  38. Flaiboy writes:

    Thank you! You’re amazing!

  39. Darkoulis writes:

    Awesome thank you people 😀

  40. Bloodios writes:

    Sweet! Thank you very much!

  41. Bloodios writes:

Wait, is the first and second movies included in the batch new encodes? If it is, is there any major difference from the previous encodes?

  42. az060693 writes:

Are the the complete (uncensored) versions? Or the theatrical releases?

  43. Hoover writes:

Thanks Coalgirls. I wouldn’t know and even care about these movies if it weren’t for you, but now I’m planning to watch it. I always like to check on your website regularly to see what’s new.

  44. lonewolf writes:

    wasn’t it supposed to have 7 episodes/movies?

  45. Dhruv writes:

@lonewolf: That’s kara no kyoukai. This has only 3 parts.

@Bloodios: Yes, the previous 2 movies are included in the batch torrent. I have only downloaded the third movie till now and will download the other 2 next week but what i can say about the difference is that the previous encodes weren’t 10-Bit while the new ones are. Other than that, ChrisK can tell better.

  46. nameless writes:

    Can someone provide the patches?
    Thanks.

  47. Stebe writes:

From what I understand there are 2 versions of the movies available. Limited and complete. Which version are these?

  48. meiditya writes:

Is the old version of eps 1 and 2 are the new encode for 720p in this batch ?
’cause the CRC is not same with the batch.

And is there anyone who can provide patch for the old one?
‘Cause DL-ing another 14gigs is quite troublesome for some slow-connection like me.

    Thanks

  49. ng writes:

Although 1080p looks different (compared to 720p) I don’t know if it actually feels/looks better. 15GB/episode is quite some size.

Is 1080p worth the size for more than just not-upscaled text/credits? I made no big comparison since I downloaded only a few MB to get an impression of the video.

  50. nameless writes:

1080p should be remux, which basically means, and should be, the same as BluRay.
I’d say it’s about personal preferencies.
