yay
Thanks!!!
>ChrisK can now use “Ordered Chapters”!!
Time to change party members.
YES! Let’s see how Shaft improved the Blurays in comparison to the TV version..
One of the few shows I decided to get the 1080p version of while watching episode 01~
/me cheers for ordered chapters I remember the day or two it took me to figure that bit of work out.
Holy shit. Thank you for doing Denpa. I was actually going to have to do it myself if no one else did.
Also:
[00:22:13] » ChrisK acquired a new ability!!
[00:22:24] » ChrisK can now use “Ordered Chapters”!!
[00:22:41] noooo
Tenshi replied correct. noooo!
Honestly I think the rest of that conversation was more epic:
[00:22:41] [Tenshi] noooo
[00:22] [Tenshi] thats a terrible skill
[00:23] [Tenshi] should have put more points into bandwidth
[00:23] [ChrisK] cannot upgrade bandwidth: insufficient resources.
[00:24] [Tenshi] go mine somemore vespene gas then
[00:24] [ChrisK] We need additional pylons!
the font size in this release is, how do you say, very large?
The font size is correct, however I muxed in a wrong variant of Myriad Pro. Here are the correct ones: Myraidpro.zip
Install them and your player should use them automatically.
This will also be fixed with the next Volume.
Lol Tenshi that is a awesome convo. Where was this in #Coalgirls? Or staff chat?
Oh fuck god no not goddamned ordered chapters.
They’re #1 on my list of “things that sound good until you actually see them implemented.” Sure I know how to play them, but they basically make it impossible for me to edit the subs – I’m not a timer so I can never compensate properly or easily for the OP/ED to line things back up. And then you have groups sometimes screwing up and missing that some episodes have special OPs or EDs. Fucking obnoxious really. And all for what? A little bit of HDD space? Ffff I have 5TB, who cares about the paltry savings?
Ugh. Ordered chapters are a plague.
wha—- coalgirls relased non-oversized files??!!?? *stunned more than by ordered chapters*
I applaud you for excellent quality, excellent encoding, clean OP/ED, ordered chapters. You rock.
^well that is normal for chris 🙂
thank you
Fuck yeah, ordered chapters. Thank you very much!
Why on earth are people against ordered chapters? They save space AND you can move the intro to a different folder to have the episodes skip it entirely if you’re sick of watching it.
Personally I think all anime releases should use it, I see no cons, only pros.
Even with ordered chapters these episodes seem kind of small though, no sure how they’ve managed that. Infinite Stratos episodes are close to 2gigs a pop. Strange.
The reason why I am against OC are the following:
1) Interoperability SUCKS big time. OCs for me have had a mixed bag of working i say 50% they don’t work for unknown reasons.
2) The HDD space savings is insignificant for the amount of headache.
3) If one looks around, I say 75% of the time ppl have issues with playback its due to OC.
660MB A FILE? WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS BLOATED PIECE OF SHIT CRF 16 ENCODING, THIS SHIT IS FUCKING…. reasonable
WWHHYYYYY… more pylons plzzz
Reasonable file size. 666mb. Yup some sort of deal with the devil went on.
Awesome that you’re doing the BD of Denpa.
It’s also decent surprise with the size of these files :3
I find it funny that people are amazed at normal sized encodes from ChrisK and Kristen these days. Tenshi is the only one who really does CRF 13 and I love Tenshi for it. But to most people think it is “bloat” I personally like CRF 13.
Stop whining and buy more hard drives.
^ I’ve noticed that too. pretty much every post lately someone is surprised at small filesize. guess people haven’t been around the past… year or so?
Seems to be that way.
The only nice thing about using ordered chapters is that I normally don’t care for the OP and ED…so it makes it faster to re-encode for a portable device. Other than that…I hate ordered chapters, too.
Also…this show seems to not need a crazy high bandwidth – I wouldn’t be surprised if CRF13 bumps up the size to somewhere around 800megs. CRF14 with 320kbps AAC audio has netted me a file size around ~600megs.
Something appears to be still wrong with the font (yes, I downloaded the package linked above, I tried to install it, Windows said it already exists. I even merged it into the mkv but the font is still really bold and I get three liners from time to time. I think something went wrong here.)
yeah, I didn’t expect that vsfilter/Directvobsub renders the subs that different than libass, where all subs fit into 2 lines<. I'll adjust the styling with the fix.
@ChrisK
Actually, I’m using MPCs internal subrenderer
Is it just me, or are the ordered chapters somewhat messed up? In episode #1, the transition into the OP via the title screen is somewhat abrupt, and said title screen appears for a short bit after the OP. Sound is also out of sync from the start of the OP until chapter skip is used. Episode #2 also exhibits the same sound out of sync issue – video seems fine.
Stupid ordered chapters.
Fixed the audio issue – apparently this occurs with ffdshow’s audio decoder using FLAC audio and ordered chapters – switching to MPC’s internal decoder for FLAC (tick FLAC for transform filters under internal filters) took care of it. The video on #1 still exhibits the oddity though – the breakpoint is probably slightly off.
My vote would be not to use ordered chapters to begin with, but meh.
Ordered chapters are a bad idea for several reasons. Besides the constant problems associated with using the latest filter that works properly, ordered chapters don’t work on any other player except MPC-HC. That’s fine for people ONLY using MPC-HC, but what if you want to watch this stuff on an iPad? Or on an XBOX? Or on any other system not using MPC-HC?
Splicing in a clean intro/ending into a complete file is one thing. Using ordered chapters is just dumb.
>but what if you want to watch this stuff on an iPad? Or on an XBOX? Or on any other system not using MPC-HC?
>Using ordered chapters is just dumb.
Trying to play anime on shitty plastic toys is also dumb.
And for the record, mplayer2 supports ordered chapters flawlessly as well. In other words, you can play files with segment linking flawlessly on all the major operating systems as long as you’re not dumb.
What’s this ordered chapter means?
what the difference with usually coalgirls encoded?
Awesome BDs quality, thank you guys 🙂
I’m a bit confused, the first and second episode used a different ending in the TV version, the ED you included was used from episode 3 onwards.
Was this the only ED included?
Oh… nevermind
Requesting v2 without ordered chapters.
Now let’s wait how many ppl will whine about “missing” OP/ED 😀
Some advice to those whiners: http://www.chihiro-subs.com/why-did-u-cut-out-the-op-and-ed-i-hate-u-chihiro/
Would like to point out that the timing for the chapters in episode 1 are slightly off, specifically the end of the prologue and start of the episode itself, so when the OP ends you see part of the ‘Chapter 1 An Alien’s City’ screen.
Other than that, thanks for the release!
1080p looks upscaled to me.
Just look at the bad aliasing everywhere.
OMFG.. what is up with the huge white font for the dialogue? and you call this restyling? O.o
I will most likely re-time Mazui’s scripts, as is, into this, if no other group picks up the BDs. Bummer was looking forward to this release.
Pro tip: read previous comments.
Haali/CCCP/K-Lite crashes, and Mplayer doesn’t support Aero. So how exactly can I get ordered chapters to work? I’m running Windows 7 32-bit.
I watch my videos using MPC-HC with CoreAVC, which works wonderfully (except for not supporting ordered chapters) and was simple to set up, requiring very little configuration or messing around. If there is something similarly simple that supports ordered chapters I would love to hear about it.
MPC-HC does support ordered chapters.
Although, the problem here is that they weren’t done correctly, as others have already said. Just before and after the opening there’s like a fraction of a second that is not supposed to be there.
The chapters will be improved with the styling fix.
need more episodes.
What happened to episodes 3-4? Looking forward to your release, thank you.
@Zan
Likely just because no AA was used, or any post processing filters for that matter…
In response to the request for translation help:
Line 04: Hey, if you’re an alien then hurry up and go back to outer space.
Line 08: How come all aliens like Earth?
Line 01: Why are you in my room?
Line 02: You have some kind of a beef with me? I see…
Line 03: Don’t come so close to me!
Line 04: Hey, if you’re an alien then hurry up and go back to outer space. (From Zelnick)
Line 05: They won’t come and pick you up? Were you abandoned by them?
Link 06: Can aliens survive without oxygen?
Line 07: That’s unfortunate.
Line 08: Why do aliens like Earth so much?
Line 09: Oh really? Then go to different country that has a lot of beautiful women.
Line 10: Man, she’s starting to piss me off…
Lines 2 and 7 I’m not 100% on so it’s probably best to get a second opinion.
Hmm… To me Line 2 sounded like “Sonna shien riyuu ga aru desu ka” which I would translate as “It’s not to ask me for help is it?”.
Again you beat me to it Clark^^
I’ve got minor modifications though :
Line 1 : What are you doing in my room? (I said it was minor hehe)
Line 2 : So there is a profound meaning to this, really? (this is more litteral, your formulation is good too)
And I agree with you about line 7 (fukeiki = hard times, gloom), as weird as it can be (I’d like to be able to breath without oxygen^^)
@karakurared, line 2 says “Sonna shin’en riyuu ga arun desu ka”, and shin’en means (among other things XD) deep, profound.
@Alucryd, It does indeed sound like shin’en now that I listen again. You have better ears than I do 🙂
