    EDIT: Just the narrator(beginning) has no subs. Was this intentional or simply an error. The narrator was subbed in episode two, so I think it’s the latter.

    I only checked ep 01, but it seems the OP is injected a fraction of a second too early. So once the OP finishes, you see a frame of the island right before the episode title (black screen) comes on. Maybe fix it for the batch, along with the script fix?

    If you’re going to use v4.2.0 use this, it has SSA/ASS fix. The normal 4.2.0 doesn’t mux SSA/ASS files, some bug, thus why the ASS files are missing in Katanagatari ep05.

    @ ar – compression when muxing??? Never seen that option w/ mkvmergegui. As for aegisub, always demux the subs I want to edit, then manually load the video file & audio tracks (the first time only). Never had a problem. Just wondering since I do use some sub work for my personal stuff. Thanks.

    It’s a new option in MkvMerge, basically it’s automatic header compression. If you check extra options for any track in 4.1.0 or 4.2.0 you’ll see the compression option. MkvMerge determines whether or not to compress the track headers automatically with zLib, but you can force it to None so it’s compatible with Aegisub.

I’ll have to do a search on “automatic header compression.” Not sure what’s really there to compress other than the odd pcm/wav file. Everything else is in lossy format (video & some audio) which is already compressed, lossless audio already compressed (FLAC), or subtitles which are not even 100kb so what’s the point – save 20kb?

    Regardless, whoever added that feature should have made default Uncompressed to ensure capability from the start. Good job on catching that issue.

    No big deal, but I still don’t get the point about problems with aegisub itself. Do you really mean .ass files, or does the “header” stick with the subs even after demuxing & thus won’t subsequently load in aegisub for edit. I hope that’s not the case since that would suck for me.

    Hope that is not what is holding up release of the subs (separately or patch). Kind of surprised nothing has been posted yet since CG should have kept a copy of them.

    Seeing as doing something as simple as a fix hasn’t been bothered with at this point.

    Here’s my own retimed patch I made for myself. It uses Mazui’s script and has all the fonts included. If you want to repatch to their v2 later or w/e make a backup copy of the original ep05 mkv, because after this successfully patches it will delete the original. You can also hit ctrl+c to terminate before deleting.

    Just copy the mkv to another dir, unrar the patch in there and run the batch file. As long as your input file is correctly named it will work. If you aren’t sure open the batch in a text editor and rename your input file according the variable at the top.

    I have some problem with 720p version: OP is not loaded, althrough in 1-4 eps. I have no problem with it.
    Segment UID is correct, OP and 5-th ep. in the same folder, Haali Splitter is up to date (14.08.2010 update).

    Does anyone have the same problem ?

    Not from me anyway. I only have the 1080p version so I only made up a 1080p script for myself when I realized they didn’t mux it.

    I’ve resampled the res to 1280×720 for my .ass file and the typesetting is pretty basic override usage so signs should display correctly.

    Since I don’t have the 720 version to check against or make a patch from this is the best I can do to help you out. The rar contains the 1280×720 res ass and Mazui’s fonts for ep05 which you’ll want when remuxing the 720p release. If it’s not perfect I apologize but this is all I can/am willing to do when it’s not my own work/screw up.

    I noticed that the the beginning of episode 1 the subtitles do blink once. I’m talking about the text “there existed an ultimate way of the sword”. This does not happen with Mazui’s version.

    At first I thought it might be a problem with the subtitle file but I couldn’t spot any differences to Mazui’s original script. It seems to be a problem of the muxing. Remuxing with mkvmerge >= 4.1.1 seems to fix the problem for me. It would be nice if you could look at the problem for the v2.
