    Thanx guys for picking this up.
    Quick question, Why use Frostii Subs over Mazui?
    No big deal just curious.

  7. ss writes:

    Surprised that this series picked by you all, thanks.

    @Saiko-Iden

    Mazui subs been awful so far (Episode 01 & 02). Frostii did a much better job.

    @topic

    Thank you, CG. Wonderful news!

    This was never himitsu. They announced it months ago.

    Himitsu projects are those by anon-chan. Blacksmith. Vampire Bund. Something else.

    This is my project and was announced as a possibility a long time ago.

    Episode 02 – May 12th … wtf?

    one Episode per Blu-ray?

    All episodes are 50 minutes long.

    oh … good to know XD

    Are there any differences from the previous TV release that make the download worth?

    1080p an upscale or native?

    It can be a good idea to put this data in releases info

    Thanks and looking forward to the series!

    Actually, Mazui did much worse job with OPEDs than with the script itself. Obviously that’s because by then official lyrics were not out and songs in this are quite difficult to recognize by ear.

    I notice quite a few liberties Frostii took with the script while Mazui sans for a couple of mistakes stayed true-r to the text. But oh well.

    Then you can thank frostii for their hardsubbed karaoke.

  24. mflledur writes:

    Coalgirls doesn’t allowed upscaled resolution (/?page_id=2).
    So 1080p is native.

    I don’t allow upscales beyond source resolution. That does not mean that the studio didn’t upscale them.

    The show looks 1080p to me but I didn’t check because I would rather encode than do a bunch of tests.

    Anyone else getting weird stoppage? Running SMPlayer and still getting hiccups in before the intro comes up. Making it a bit unwatchable =/…

  27. Kamugin writes:

    I wasn’t thinking about the obvious quality improvments. I want to know is if there are retouched scenes or improved sequences like in Bakemonogatari BV release for exemple. I didn’t liked this show enough to dowload it again if there aren’t any real improvments.

  28. james writes:

    The 1080p release really looks way better than the tv release. Even if there are no redrawn scenes or such things the release itself is better for the eyes.

  29. Andy writes:

    I’m getting audio drops at the 14 sec mark, and 1:05 min mark in the 1080p opening for about a second each, am i the only one? i have a quad core comp and running mpc home cinema with the CCCP codec pack.

  30. Nintendork writes:

    Seems like the encodes still has some problemas with audio/video desynch after the op.

    with ffdshow flac decoder –> desynch
    with coreavc –> no problems

    I mean coreaac xD

  33. thk writes:

    Sorry for asking this but any DDL for 1080p version?
    Thanks.

  34. Nghia writes:

    @thk
    Sorry, but I don’t think I would get 1080p version, my old laptop cannot play it, I can buy a new one but I want to save on the hard drive and 1080p is twice the size so I rather have twice the number of anime series in BD 720p compare with if I would have got BD 1080p. Use torrent if you can because it is always faster when it is first posted. The longer you wait, the less seeders there are.

  35. B0ng0 writes:

    @Andy

    I got the same specs as you (i guess), Quad Core and I use MPC. No hiccups on said marks though, everythings playing smoothly and absolutely fine.

  36. thk writes:

    Sad….
    But anyway thanks for your DDL. I think i will bear with 720p since i can’t use torrent

  37. hunter writes:

    No, ordered chapters again 🙁

    I was happy because in all your last releases didn’t exist, but now I have the same problem with the last seconds of the intro appear after the opening and waiting for a suggestion or method to fix it.

    Thanks for the project.

  38. Ultrak writes:

    Is this an ordered chapter release ??

  39. ar writes:

    hunter,

    Here is the fixed chapter xml which needs to be remuxed with the ep01 mkv.

    http://www.mediafire.com/file/jcwmc5gzzmn/coalgirls_katanagatari_ep01_ordered_chap_fix.xml

    Imo the encoder should release a patch with the fixed chapters.

    Whomever the encoder here is, take a good look at my chapters, and open the mkv in aegisub and check the frame times in the chapters against keyframes. Also take note the correct way to jump after a segment-linked chapter.

    I don’t think I need to explain myself, the changes in the xml file are self-explanatory.

    Also segment-linked chapters should always be time exact.

    get the length of the OP with:

    mkvinfo “[Coalgirls]_Katanagatari_OP_(1920x1080_Blu-Ray_FLAC)_[A71C2B46].mkv”

    | + Duration: 93.095s (00:01:33.095)

    that is your OP segment linked chapter end time.

    Woot and Mazui comes out on top.
    No but seriously, I prefer Mazui anyway.
    I think they do a decent job.
    But then again, I don’t speak japanese.

  41. zaockle writes:

    honestly, i dont think anything deserves ordered chapters ever. 1: if you are bitching about space, realize that you are archiving BLURAYS, so stop bitching about space. you took the dive into the HD quality. man up and buy an external hdd or two. mine is almost filled up, going to have to get another 2tb external. imo, everything should be fixed chapter that way i can organize blurays into series name>season x>episodes>&clean op/ed> without breaking the episode. i guess im just an elitist fag though

  42. coalgirls writes:

    I do ordered chapters when a NC version is available so as to use it in the episode without having to splice in the video or audio.

  43. Giovanni writes:

    Will you release the commentary tracks for episodes 11 and 12? Thanks!

  44. Giovanni writes:

    Sorry, I put the message in the wrong post.

  45. Lalolan writes:

    No problems playing this, used various codecs and players. I suspect that the “desync” problems people are complaining about are the standard “computer doesn’t quite have the power to properly play the video of this resolution”. If your computer is only borderline powerful enough to play 1080 resolution video, changing to a more efficient codec like CoreCodec may do the trick. Aside from that all you can do is upgrade your computer. If you bought a boxed computer and it was a really good deal, it probably means you have a pathetic amount of generic ram, start by replacing that with more and/or faster ram first and work from there.

  46. John writes:

    @Lalolan
    The desynch problems that occur in some Coalgirls releases after the OP are because the settings of the ordered chapters were bad done. __ar explained here: /?p=28&cpage=3#comment-1363.
    I’m not expert, so I don’t fully understand but even Coalgirls accepted their error. I don’t know exactly why this doesn’t happen using CCCP with FLAC audio disabled but for us people with low specs PCs using CoreAVC and other codecs, this is an old error.

  47. Banon writes:

    Thank You for your hard work. When do we expect the second episode?

  48. RoadSign writes:

    That’s nice, Mazui is really doing a great job.
    Looking forward on episodes 2 and 1v2.

  49. ss writes:

    Good job on the episode 2, by the way, this current episode 1 link is the v2 or still the former 1? Either way, thanks.

    Still the former. I’ll make it say Episode 01 (v2) when it is the v2.
