Was the english dub not good or just not out yet? I would assume with all the languages it comes in that there was a reason the english is left out?

Will you folks also be doing any of the other ghibli films? That would be really nice if you could =D

    • coalgirl writes:

No English dub on the disc. I may splice it in when it comes out in England, or maybe not.

I’ve already done 2 Ghibli films – Nausicaa and Laputa. I have not done Ponyo (Not particularly interested) nor Yamada’s (I don’t consider this to be a real Ghibli film). These are all that are out presently.

But what you need to know about Ghibli is that it is my policy to keep my plans on any film absolutely quiet until the last moment. So you’re not really going to get any amount of info from me for any future Ghibli films. :p

  16. John writes:

@bob barker The english dub is still being done as Disney buys the rights to it and releases it. It won’t be in theaters in the USA until early 2012, february I believe.

Also is there somewhere we can get the 720p encode now? Or do we have to wait for 1080p to finish and then they will both be put up? I’m so impatient.

  17. hayao writes:

    suge!

  18. Joe Bob writes:

Is the french dub good? It’s the only language included that I know somewhat.

  19. plague1ftw writes:

I watched a dvd rip allready. I wouldn’t expect too much of the movie, it’s very similar to ponyo as in beeing a kids film without any deeper plot. Also the “action” level is somewhere below zero. It’s nice tow atch from a visual point of fiew but it’s nowwhere near the former ghibli movies I love so much,

Still thx for beeing so fast with the blueray ๐Ÿ˜€

how large, filesize is 720p and 1080p

  21. bikar writes:

looks like audio is ~40% ?

  22. coalgirl writes:

Yeah, it’s a good chunk. But that’s the beauty of it. If you want less audios for less size, it’s just a simple mux away.

  23. boingman writes:

    Another kiddy Ghibli then? *sigh*
Well can’t be as bad as Ponyo, can it? Guess we won’t see another Nausicaa/Mononoke Hime epic anytime soon.

  24. hamu writes:

    thank you! I love youu!!!!

  25. TCM-man writes:

Awesome, finally, a wellknown group is releasing this awesome epic work by Studio Ghibli.

As for Ponyo, I also had my doubt about Ponyo, but after a lot of hesitation I have finally bought the DVD version of the movie (still no blu-ray player), and it’s awesome, it got such a simple plot, but the whole experience has been great. Have already watched Ponyo twice this year!

  26. Lemon writes:

    That was fast! Thank you!

And I agree with TCM-man about Ponyo. I didn’t watch that for a long time, and it turned out to be great when I finally did. Also Ponyo is really really cute.

  27. p writes:

“Yamadaโ€™s (I donโ€™t consider this to be a real Ghibli film)”

Why? It’s directed by Isao Takahata and animated at Ghibli, so it’s just as real as any other Ghibli movie..

  28. boingman writes:

Maybe because it looks like shit?

  29. bob barker writes:

    Thanks for the answer. =D

But after reading a few other comments. I made a list awhile ago of the other ghibli films already out. Any chance they will come out? Not sure if they are only DVD the ones that are dubbed.

But I wasn’t pumping you for info. I was just curious if its considered

Mononoke / Moving Castle / Spirited etc etc .

  30. DmonHiro writes:

Removing the useless French, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese and dubs and you get a nice 720p ar 3740. So yeah, 35% of the file is the pointless DTS dubs.

  31. mascthemoney writes:

    glorious as usual.

  32. jens101 writes:

Thank you so much for this wonderful film.
I’ve been waiting for a year and now I can finally enjoy it. In Germany he was unfortunately only in a few cinemas.

  35. hellohue writes:

Does anyone know where the storyboard special feature can be found?
I always love Ghibli films for including this and it’ll be interesting to see a new director’s approach.

I did find an unsubbed Miyazaki interview but that’s the only special feature that’s surfaced so far.

  36. bikar writes:

you can download BDMV and you get all extra there is

  37. hellohue writes:

That is such a huge file though and I’m not sure how to play it, just for one special feature.

  38. Guille writes:

Thank you very much for this! I don’t speak Cantonese, French (well, may be a little), Korean, or Mandarin, but I am SURE there is people around the world thanking GOD (i.e., you) for including those languages in the release. I must confess I will remove them in order to make extra space in my disk, but that’s just me. I think it’s great you keep them for everyone to enjoy. KUTGW.

  39. kev writes:

wooot for all these language. I am gonna watch this in french.

Its only here on my PC or its the file? What can I do to make the Audio 1 work?
    Please, someone help me!

  43. Tsundere-chan writes:

@RedFil You should install a FLAC decoder.

But I’ve used another player and it have worked fine
Thx so much for the up

Amazing movie, because of this film I’m missing the others Ghibli’s productions, I think I will download the Nausicaa and some others again, but now in HD =P

Thx again for the amazing ups!

  46. Faufnir writes:

    Recommended decoder for this?

I’ve tried CoreAVC & FFDShow but are still seeing graphical glitches before leaving the Ghibli intro logo & text on both encodes!

    • coalgirl writes:

Your decoder is probably right. Those blue scenes were made very poorly and the glitches were to be expected. It was like that on the BDISO. I tried to freezeframe most of them out, but if some exist, it is to be expected. Not like it’ll effect your enjoyment of the movie. Those glitches do not appear anywhere else.

  47. Faufnir writes:

Ahh, ok, thanks, puts my mind at ease somewhat ๐Ÿ˜‰

Some of the pans are kinda jerky too, those also in the source?

    Ta for the release btw!

    • coalgirl writes:

If the pans are jerky, make sure your computer is powerful enough to play the resolution/bitrate. If there is a jerky pan, it’s definitely in the source. I’m not stupid enough to IVTC a progressive 23.976 BD or do something else to remove frames.
