SO..May I request ‘Rio Rainbow Gate’ BD ver???
I haven’t seen anyone Released YET!!
I love sexy Rio and That ‘There might be season 2’
These two reasons make it worth collecting..
Hope you will encode this for the lovers
    wait for your response

Good release, though I question your choice of sub source. SS was pretty bad at this, having way to literal subs, and horrible editing like “There’s a trap in a place like this, too”. Yes, the editing SS did is very bad, but hey, it’s your release.

the animation quality looks great! 😀

i would also prefer Victorique’s subs for the whole thing.

  10. DarkChaplain writes:

    @Tenshi
Don’t worry, most of us would need to get paid to actually watch Rio anyway *coughs*

just.. well, I’d prefer Victorica over Victorique, in terms of spelling, but well, not that bad

  11. S.J. writes:

awesome guys :3 thanks for all the hard work

  12. Akina writes:

Aww, This is my favourite show this year and Victorique subs for this is way better. =\
    Please reconsider it Tenshi.

    >3GB an ep in 1080p

    really now lol

  14. d writes:

3GB per episode? Are you fucking serious?

  15. Daiz writes:

Bwahahahaha, Tenshi encoding a 540p-mastered BONES show at CRF 13 at 1080p. Sure is Bloatgirls living up to their name once again! Tenshi, why don’t you just skip the intermediate encoding step and just start remuxing BDMVs for maximum filesize and maximum placebo?

  16. DmonHiro writes:

@d: you must be new here. Tenshi is the king of bloat.

  17. SF writes:

    3GB an episode ( ゚∀゚)アハハ八八ノヽノヽノヽノ \ / \/ \

Next time save yourself the time and trouble and just release the m2ts with subs. I doubt anyone would be able to tell the difference by the filesize.

  18. water writes:

6 gigs for 2 episodes… Typical US releases – obese and ugly.

  19. Ryu writes:

I appreciate that you are doing Gosick.
But well, even if I have archived most of your releases, I am going to pass on this.
UTWs subs are superior to SSs (they did a good job on fixing the scripts in the 1-12 batch) and 3GB is a tad too much in my opinion. I’ll just wait for UTWs BD release.

    But who cares ┐( ̄ー ̄)┌

  20. wow writes:

    HAHAHAHAHAH

  21. Nettosama writes:

Why do people keep posting the same thing? It’s well known that Tenshi oversizes his encodes, he even admitted it and explained it. If you don’t like it, just look at the poster and if it says Tenshi, move on.

  22. MrNoName writes:

Just because people like UTW for the mere sake of it being UTW does not mean it is the better choice of subs. Oh and Dmonhiro just obsesses over everything CR (which is basically victorique with gg-esque editing to quell the masses of fanboy drones) :p

  23. projectj writes:

Some guy named Virus123 did a good encode of this. I just compared, looks exactly the same as this except with UTW subs and under a third the size. I picked them up at nyaa.

*sigh, another series same old bloat comments. Here it is again:

80GB is an insignificant about of HDD space when drives are now at 3TB and getting larger. The difference in percent of a 80gb and a “reasonable size” 24gb encode is 1.87% on a 3TB drive. Or in my vocab good enough to be zero. If one wants to whine and complain about size that’s why the 720 is there.
1% quality difference for 500% the size is a perfectly acceptable tradeoff to me when file sizes are only at 3gb. Don’t like? Then encode it yourself.

  26. Tri_Edge writes:

    Nice job “Tenshi”
Since you’re going to fix the mistakes on ep 1 I’ll just download the rest until you fix it.
Size doesn’t matter when you have over 20TB of storage right Tenshi.

  27. meiko writes:

Why don’t you guy pick up Da Capo series too?

  28. freak writes:

In reality you’re probably talking about a %500 increase in size for what amounts to maybe %0.0187 increase in quality. (or good enough to be zero in your own vocabulary)

    “Then encode it yourself.”
I intend to, but I figured it was worth pointing out anyway.

  29. Anonymous writes:

Watched the first two minutes to get a feel for it. So many sub fuck ups. You missed the translation of the last line of the OP for fucks sake, so terrible.

  30. faggot writes:

    0.187=1.87%. Learn2math

    Also,
    >Using harddrives prices to justify shitty encodes

  31. faggot writes:

    ^0.0187*

  32. SF writes:

That justification is the MOST retarded thing I’ve heard in a long time. First off, you’ve fucked up your calculations. A 3TB drive will have ~2794GB of free space, which means that the percentage difference on a 3TB is actually 2%. That means that if the percentage difference is small enough to be zero, then the quality difference is as well. So by your own logic you’ve proven that all you’ve done is bloat the file size.

    • ♦Tenshi♦ writes:

You are assuming quality and size of files are weighted equally. They aren’t in my mind. And also never once did I disagree with bloating files. I am just saying its too insignificant to care.

  33. ♦Tenshi♦ writes:

Fair enough my bad on not moving the decimal place.

And noted for the last line of the OP.

  34. LLy_BosHi writes:

I don’t want to complaint about file size, since I’ll download it because I liked it..
    but… I just don’t like these SS subs….

  35. 1337 writes:

i think the size is fine, good work!~

  36. Sayer writes:

@SF You really had to do the maths? Fuck you’re an idiot, it’s plain as day what he was trying to say. Don’t try too hard.

“1% quality difference for 500% the size is a perfectly acceptable tradeoff to me when file sizes are only at 3gb”

Seriously, If you don’t like it fuck off.

  37. Akina writes:

THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! TENSHI!!!! ^_^
For making the patches to Victorique’s subs.. <333

  38. Deviant writes:

I don’t download these releases (lol), but it is perplexing why Tenshi, after receiving so many complaints, and seemingly being aware of the inefficiency of encoding placebo-bitrate upscales, does not attempt to rectify his actions. In a situation where speed of users’ internet and hdd space is limited, even if it is a large limit, it is rather imbecilic to operate at such low efficiency.

Though, the better question is: Why isn’t someone else making releases that aren’t as terrible?

  39. Mirari writes:

Even though I agree that 3.31GB for one episode is too bloated. I don’t care. Mainly because I don’t download 1080p. Those that like to bitch and complain on how terrible his releases are should really just shut the fuck up. If you have nothing constructive to say, don’t say anything at all. Don’t like it? Encode it yourself or look for another encode. And let those of us who are happy in our ignorance be.
There is one thing I admire about Tenshi (even though it is not his encoding). That is: he does what he wants and doesn’t give a fuck what others think.

  40. facepalm writes:

“80GB is an insignificant about of HDD space when drives are now at 3TB and getting larger. ”

    what logic is that?
So you’re justifying your bloat release because the hdds are getting larger?
I wouldn’t be surprised if your releases would be bigger than the original bdmv

  41. Desbreko writes:

Looking only at percentages for this kind of thing is dumb. You have to look at the actual amounts to see the whole picture.

Sure, the difference between 80 GB and 24 GB on a ~2794 GB hard drive is only ~2%. But at 80 GB each, you can only fit ~35 anime on it, whereas at 24 GB each, you can fit ~116 anime. That’s ~331% as much anime, by the way.

    • ♦Tenshi♦ writes:

I only watch around 35 anime series at best a year anyhow, and I buy 8 of whatever size is the largest at the time HDDs a year. So even with me archiving raw BD disks, and my encodes I am still left with a huge surplus of space, might as well use it. More bitrate doesn’t hurt anything but space which I can’t seem to use enough of anyhow.
      .
Lets put it this way, you wouldn’t care about the difference in size of a 1MB jpeg or a 3MB PNG, when storing it on your machine. You would just take the PNG toss it in storage and think nothing of it. That’s the way I feel about this. The difference between 1gb and 3gb is so insignificant I just toss it in storage and think nothing of it.

  42. R-Minus writes:

    will there be a batch???
or it’s too big to seed a batch so I have to dl it now??

  43. ♦Tenshi♦ writes:

There will be a batch naturally at the end of the series.

  44. Desbreko writes:

Actually, I do care about JPG vs PNG for storing images, considering I have ~27,000 of them. PNG is a waste of space for most types of images unless you actually have a good reason for needing lossless.

If you’re throwing away that much money on HDDs, I don’t see why you’d bother re-encoding the video at all. If I had eight 3 TB drives, I’d just remux the video from the BDMV unless it needed filtering that couldn’t be done in post-processing. It would probably be more popular with the leechers that way too, as those who think bigger is better would get an even bigger file; and those who want a smaller size/resolution could easily re-encode without stacking on more quality loss and without having to deal with the full BDMV or shifting subtitles.

  45. DarkChaplain writes:

oh, I see a daiz *yawns*

Anyway, 3gb for 1080p is too much for me on here. The show is long-running, not all people are getting new harddrives like some of us,
and considering I can get all the episodes that are out til now (16, UTW) in just slightly more than episodes 1 and 2 in 1080 makes me go for 720p.
2-300 mb more than the TV version is completely fine for me, and especially for Gosick I don’t see the purpose in having 1080p.
Other shows really shine in that resolution, but Gosick doesn’t *click* for me.

In the end, its a personal thing; people could simply pick the 720p which is fine.
If you think the anime is worth 1080p and the space, simply get it.

  46. Deviant writes:

Tenshi, why would you waste time encoding if you are storing the original files? Since the encodes waste so much download time and storage space to be taken seriously for public consumption, I can’t think they are made for the purpose being shared. The only ideas your posts and analogies give is either you encode to feel good about yourself, or you lack the mental capacity to consider the majority of others’ situation, and genuinely believe it is what others want.

As I said before, it is a real mystery, and I’m quite interested in which area your mind is faulting. Depending on which, either psychological, or medical help may be advisable.

    Have a nice day.

I kind of laugh every time I see people complain. Tenshi admits they are huge. And he doesn’t care. I don’t think your wining will change that. Just don’t download it and move on if it’s too big for you.

    Quote of my life.

I completely agree Tenshi. Any Quality gain for me is worth any amount of space. I eat Gigabytes a day like nothing anyway. Buying more hard drives is fine with me. This is exactly why I always will take your crf 13 1080p over anything else. Ignore poorfags.
