Kara no Kyoukai

Type: Movie (7 Parts + Epilogue + Remix)
Video: 1920×1080 @ crf 16
1280×720   @ crf 16
Audio: FLAC 5.1 (24 Bit)
Subs: Track 1: gg-TakaJun (restyled)
Track 2: Retail (restyled)
1080p: Torrent
720p: Torrent

Notes:

  • I watched it in 1080p, but I can’t really tell if it’s worth the extra space. You decide.
  • If you watch this at normal distance to your TV, you shouldn’t notice most of the crappy parts. Looks quite good actually.
  • Part 5 is a bit huge because the entire movie was plastered with grain.
  • The chronological order of the parts is: 2, 4, 3, 1, 5, 6, (Remix,) 7, Epilogue. Watch it in this order if you want to have an easier understanding of the story. Or just watch the Remix after Part 6.

    will definitely be worth the hard drive space but downloading 50gb from public bittorrent tracker will take weeks lol

    Couldn’t decide which to go for though 1080 it is for now, what ref frames are these movies in?

    btw thanks!

    Sweet! Didn’t think it’d be out tonight. Thank you. Starting the 1080p download. I’ll get the 720p version after I move over Sailor Moon to my external drive.

    Am I the only one who keeps getting an “Invalid torrent file” message when I try to open the 1080p torrent?

  10. Aki writes:

    No, I was getting it too. Just go directly to the nyaatorrents page and download it from there. For some reason the direct link makes the torrent file invalid.

  11. Peorth writes:

    I’m also getting the “Invalid torrent file” error. I went directly to the Nyaatorrents page but I keep getting the same error (at least for the 720p torrent).

  12. ChrisK writes:

    o_O .. I can download them just fine …

    Try these links if it still doesn’t work for you: 720p1080p

  13. Peorth writes:

    Thanks ChrisK, the links you provided worked 🙂

  14. jade_kuro writes:

    Thank you guys for this release!

    I also have this error when opening the torrent link (1080p).
    But I managed to get it with the links provided by ChrisK here in the comments.

  16. Anon writes:

    Thanks for this. Taking a look, there’s only one movie that really brings up the overall file size, so it would be as waste to not at least check out the 1080p first, since they’re still rather reasonable.

  17. Sayer writes:

    54 gig hey? Didn’t see that coming. When you say part 5 is huge, you’re not fucking kidding. Ahh well, I’ll start pulling it down after it gets a stronger base, cheers.

  18. Cheval writes:

    @ChrisK : The links you provided worked. btw Torrent’s size from nyaa only 160 kb while it should be 270 kb…o_O now off to bed while waiting for this.
    thanks a lot

  19. tormaid writes:

    Thanks for the DDL’s for this. Now I only have to wait a few hours instead of a few days 😀

  20. bikar writes:

    yea DDL’s are awesome if you have premium 🙂

  21. malone writes:

    If only other DDL would be uploaded here like MF or MU.

  22. 4rc writes:

    “Part 5 is a bit huge because the entire movie was plastered with grain.”
    Can anyone tell me what this mean? The other episodes of similar length is only 2 gb, yet this is 25 gb. This is not right

  23. tormaid writes:

    @4rc
    Grain makes encodes so large because the encoder tries to accurately render the positions of all the noise data for every frame. The Cleaner the animation the greater the compressibility.

  24. 4rc writes:

    So theres a problem with the source material on that episode, so assuming a better source can be found, the size could be better compressed

  25. Anon writes:

    Yes, the problem indeed lies in the source material: the BD version of this movie.

  26. chronos writes:

    @4rc:

    The fact that ther’s grain doesn’t mean the movie is from a “bad” source, it could be that, or that the original movie was plastered with grain, and it was done with that in mind, as to make it look sort of “old” or movie-like. I haven’t watched the fifth BD yet, but I’m quite sure this is the later case. I could confirm it, but I’m quite lazy now, opening the BOX is a pain just to check that -_-.

    Aniway, I wouldn’t expect a reencode from a “better” source if I were you, just dl it and reeconde it yourself if you think it’s too big.

  27. boingman writes:

    Thanks for giving us the option to choose which subtitles we want to use. 🙂

  28. cking543 writes:

    100+ years to download the 1080p. come ooooon seeds -__-

  29. oooooooooooooooooooooooo writes:

    Or just download everything in 1080p except for the fifth and get that one in 720.

  30. Sigh writes:

    So many leechers out there… upping with 200+ and loading with absolutely incredible 60-160

  31. WeeblE writes:

    if it’s not too much trouble, could you upload the scripts for 1-8? I got a cheapo 720p raw a while back and I don’t feel like downloading 25 gigs just to rip them 🙁

  32. Cosbuster writes:

    @Sigh

    The torrent is new, wait until more people are done. Not everyone’s got a good upload speed and you can’t exactly expect many seeders when almost nobody is done downloading yet.

  33. Nettosama writes:

    Maybe i shouldn’t post this here, but anyone else getting extremely slow speeds with fileserve premium account? I can’t pass 200KB/s DLing these..

  34. bikar writes:

    do you use JDownloader ?

  35. Nettosama writes:

    yes

  36. E writes:

    Good to know that the disappearing DDLs were just an accident and not some troll reporting links.

  37. Sigh writes:

    @Cosbuster
    If you have a crappy connection just deal with a crappy download speed as well instead of pulling off <0.2 ratios on new torrents. It's so annoying to see my ratio skyrocketing between 1.5 and 2.5.

  38. bikar writes:

    most of us have good download speed but bad upload
    i have 1mb/s Down ,and 50kb/s up

  39. Cosmico writes:

    Okay now that I have finished downloading I can also state my opinion.
    At first a big thanks to ChrisK for his work. For this source the final result came out really good.
    Now for those who still wonder if the 1080p version is worth twice the space. For me it is a definite No.
    If you have enough CPU power to resize the movie in realtime with Lanzcos/Spline then you will hardly notice any difference. For comparison I have uploded some pictures. Its from the exact same frame and beside the resizing no filter was used.

    Native 1080p

    Upscaled from 720p
    http://www.pixhost.org/show/204/6009578_upscaled.png

    But in move the difference is even less noticeable. If someone still wants to stick to 1080p there is also the alternative to reencode the FLAC audio to reduce filesize. For example the first movie.
    FLAC: 1GB and AAC with same quality (at least with a common home cinema system) ~200MB.
    I’m not a fan of FLAC audio, but thats just my point of view. Keep up the great work ChrisK and Coalgirls.

  40. 5ushi writes:

    ChrisK, the original torrent links work. For those who are getting bad .torrent files, clear your browser cache, restart your machine and try the torrent links above again. I too were getting the invalid message and the above helped.

    I’m DDLing from FileServe for now and adding them manually to the torrent (for the leechers). Though as mentioned, I’m getting bad up speeds (though the downs I getting just over 1500kb/s).

    Had a look at EP3 as that’s what I downed first and I must say, it is slightly disappointing. Though it is better than my DVD Raws, that’s for sure. Will keep these, so a thanks to ChrisK.

  41. Sigh writes:

    @bikar
    That’s exactly what I’m talking about. At least limit your upload and download speed at a value that equals a 0.5 ratio. Your selfish behaviour makes people with an appropriate connection suffer.

    I’m fine with leeching on old and well-seeded torrents, but this is just stealing away download speed.

  42. bikar writes:

    yea thats why I have seedbox 🙂

  43. banger writes:

    its because a lot of people don’t even seed…that’s the problem with public trackers and torrents this large. check out how many completed vs how many seeders

  44. bikar writes:

    nyaa should be like bakabt (light version 😀 at least for rules)
    registration required for download and with ratio and hit & run tracking

    Everything would be better than expected

  45. RonIron writes:

    Many of you that are complaining about seeders will not seed; so, please stop complaining. There are several different options for acquiring the files, ddl, torrent, xdcc/mirc. Getting on comments to do anything but thank these guys is pathetic. Nonetheless, thanks again ChrisK for the awesome releases and the effort you put into this series. It definitely shows. Thank You~

  46. tormaid writes:

    @RonIron

    Coalgirls doesn’t do xdcc.

  47. RonIron writes:

    @Tormaid

    They don’t run their own bots, but coalgirls releases are on several bots throughout very popular channels. All xdcc…

  48. G. writes:

    Thanks to Cosmico for the 1080p vs. 720p screencap – would someone be willing to do the same for the Epilogue? I have gathered in my travels that it was likely animated at a higher resolution than the movies, but I’d like to see if it benefits from the 1080p version.

  49. Sparky writes:

    Wasn’t there 3 extras in the Bluray which was Epilogue, Remix Gate of Seventh Heaven and then Special Program “Retracing All Seven Chapters of the Garden of sinners” (50 min.) which originally aired on TV in Japan… what happened the the TV airing special?

  50. トゥ・ビエハ writes:

    Excellent. I DLed DECAY’s encode but will be replacing with this. DLing from some private tracker at sky-rocket speeds <3

    What do you mean with "crappy parts"? I assume "crappy" refers to the original BDs. I couldn't care less if ep 5 is 20 or 30 GB :P. Did you use additional filters for the encode? Or it's intact as it came from the BDs? ( and thanks for keeping the noise 😀 )
