    Oh, hm. I thought I changed that. Well, it’ll be fixed for the final batch. I only do these mini-batches to help me seed the final, so it’d be counter-intuitive to reseed the batch to help me seed the final better.

    Is there really no way to compress those kinds of eps? I mean having it in top quality is great but if the size becomes a little ridiculus then it’s kinda hard to get you know? It’s hard to find 25gb of free space to download ep5 of Kara no Kyoukai T_T

  3. tormaid writes:

    @sharm
    Don’t wine about filesizes, get a bigger HDD. It’s 2011 for crying out loud.

    Also, (no offense) ChirsK’s KnK is an unfiltered waste of space. Get DVD encodes or wait for a better BD release – stuff is eyecancer.

  4. coalgirl writes:

    I think people are over-exaggerating what I mean by huge. It’ll probably be double the size of any other episode. Not like 5 GB while a regular episode is 500 MB.

    Is there a way to fix the looping on the files? Or do I really need to use MPC. Using MPC gives me slow video, unsynced audio, so I’d rather not do that.

  9. alex writes:

    @above, from you’re saying it sounds like you use vlc? vlc uses its own splitters and codecs, so it won’t use haali, which is the only thing that supports ordered chapters 100%. vlc supports them, but poorly (it’s totally hit or miss). You have to turn it on somewhere in advanced options (look for matroska splitter and have it search the directory on startup).

    Other directshow based players should be fine if you have haali installed. mplayer is in the same boat as vlc, although I’m pretty sure there are probably custom builds out there somewhere that do ordered chapters.

    Basically, there’s probably a way to use whatever player you are using, but it isn’t guaranteed to work 100%. If you want it to be easy, use MPC. If it’s desyncing, your machine can’t keep up. CoreAVC is pretty fast on the video end if you don’t already have it. It might help. Might not, idk.

    Wow that’s a long post :/ Hope it helps someone ^^

  10. Oli writes:

    In my experience CoreAVC drastically reduces image quality too.

    If your pc is struggling with 720p then you really need to get a pc from this decade, or stop using a laptop.

  11. alex writes:

    @above
    I think any image quality reduction is probably placebo. There are a few bugs in coreavc that are really obscure (I think, they may have gotten fixed). But there is a reference decoder, and coreavc does match it. So does ffdshow. They output exactly the same when they are both working correctly. However, this is only true of coreavc 2.0, as previous versions did have more major bugs.

    When coreavc decides to have problems though (which has happened to me.. twice I think), it is immediately obvious (artifacts, etc). I switch decoders when that happens.

    But you might have had a negative experience, so I’ll give you that. It gets hate and I’m sure it deserves it in some way.

    The subtitle in episode 5 is different from the first 4. Is that a mistake or it’s original purpose?

    Thank you for the latest Clannad After Story. 🙂

    I won’t be churlish and whine about lack of space.

    For those whom are hurting, you can do as I’ve been doing.

    1) replacing 1T and smaller HDs with 2T drives. I just got a pair of Samsung 2T internal drives from newegg for a grand total of $160. Yummies!

    2) You can also swing past the alleged ‘computer’ aisles at Walmart’s and look for older model Seagate external drives. These are the pre-USB3.0 models. You can get these discontinued models such as the 1.5T Deskbook USB2.0 for $70. Once you’ve loaded your Anime titles on these external drives, USB2.0 is perfectly adequate for playback.

    This approach is much cheaper than trying to archive stuff to DVDRs, Dual sided DVDRs and much, much cheaper than archiving to any form of BD.

    In point of fact, I’ve been torrenting both the 720p and 1080p versions of Coalgirls fansubs of BD sourced After Story. Everything gets put on my home server for playback from any device in any room. These include netbooks, older desktops that can’t run above 480p high, regular modern desktops (720p) and one gamer monster with attched 5.1 240watt+ sound system in the living room.

    If you really want the freedom to play your collection anywhere on any device, you really need gobs and gobs of storage for multiple versions. Whiners with space complaints will be inquired of “What cheese do you want with that whine?” and entered for the Dog Race on Deadman Wonderland.

    I eat terrabytes for breakfast:

    @Jordan, you may want to try the latest of ‘vlc’. I don’t experience looping with vlc-1.1.9.

    YMMV and other such disclaimers. Plus .. I don’t run Windows. Works for me.

    Ewww VLC Ewww.

  17. YA SRSLY writes:

    @PB Curious/@Jordan either that or pick up a copy of mplayer2, much better @ Pure Video then that the original is, with added support for Ordered Chapters

    PS: I came at your mount points

  18. Phoenix writes:

    At the end of episode 12 (1080p), the “To be continued” screens shows twice…1st time it fades away…then appears again…and again fades away. Makes no sense. :/

  19. Phoenix writes:

    It’s not the script…problem with the video. The the last screen showing the cloudy sky appears twice.

  20. Curtis writes:

    I can verify Phoenix’s problem as well, but only if playing the standalone file. Playing back episode 12 1080p in MPC the “clouds/TBC” scene plays, fades out, jumps back in, and fades out again. The jump occurs at 20:38/39 . If playing with the OP/ED present a la ordered chapters the fade occurs normally.

    It’s ordered chapter???

  22. dane writes:

    Hey i have been searching for the clannad banner you peeps used for your website. May i have the link for it? Whats the resolution for it btw?

    Thanks 🙂

  23. meiko writes:

    Can someone check out episode 5? Why is the text color and font difference from the others?

  24. Azumao writes:

    meiko read previous comments ._. It’s gonna be fixed in the batch torrent.

  25. banger writes:

    how do editions work? how do you pick which edition to watch? i use media player classic

  26. alex writes:

    I think you just right click on the splitter and choose the other edition. the splitter being haali. that being said my internet is terrible and I can’t try it yet. I’m sure somebody else can confirm/deny.

  27. Curtis writes:

    @alex and banger
    Confirmed. When you right-click on the Haali splitter there is an Editions section above the Chapters section. Just pick Edition 2 from the list.

  28. jimmydorry writes:

    What is this…. I don’t even? We need editions now?

    Let me get this straight… the only difference in edition 2, is that you left out the ED and preview?

    *Sigh

  29. Curtis writes:

    @jimmydorry
    No, editions are just an extension of ordered chapters. Different editions will play back varying file combinations. Edition 1 of episode 16 plays back everything while edition 2 leaves out the ED and preview. There are zero differences in what you need to download.

  30. Oli writes:

    And to be fair, the ed & preview ruined the end of ep16 completely.

  31. Dobs writes:

    Thank you so much for this!

    Even as I watch the episodes, I still want to purchase the actual blu rays later on in the summer. I’ve one question if you don’t mind; If I recall, the BR’s are subbed in English as well? What is the quality of the subs?

  32. jimmydorry writes:

    @Dobs
    Refer to the THORA releases of season 1 of Clannad. They used the “official subs” i.e. the ones off of the Blu-Ray. The subs were pretty meh. SS-Eclipse did a better job translating, but that’s not to say that the official subs were unwatchable.

    Without checking it myself, I would highly recommend checking whether Clannad AS Blu-Rays ship with english subs, because it would certainly ruin my day if I bought it and they didn’t.

  33. Curtis writes:

    Thank you for working to finish this release so quickly!

  34. DmonHiro writes:

    Any v2s in the batch?

  35. ota writes:

    at last it is completed, thank you very much!
    *waiting for the ddl..

    btw what’s in episode 25? I recall there was just 24 eps in the tv version.

  36. Curtis writes:

    Episode 25 is the Another World: Kyou Chapter special.

  37. Tiago writes:

    Thank you so much coalgirls!!! This is probably my favourite show, and is now in great quality thanks to you 🙂

    Just can’t thank you enough….Great job and keep up!

  38. tech writes:

    I would appreciate it coalgirl if u would make a little DDL on the sakura post for this….took me forever to check this 70 damn scripts…there were ALOT of horofics wrong….

  41. Serp writes:

  42. MikeN writes:

    Yes, you did. And you did a great job btw. Thank you!:D

  43. Illicit writes:

    Thanks for this! Seriously. And now I must purchase my 4th 2TB Drive…damn I’m an addict…

  44. Serp writes:

    You did? Hmm, I must be missing something here then. I must search now.

  45. Curtis writes:

    @Serp
    In the Coalgirls releases Clannad episode 24 and Clannad ~After Story~ episode 25 are the Another World chapters.

    Again I can’t say thank you enough for this release! The only thing that could make it better is if the bonus image gallery from the BD was included.

  46. Serp writes:

    @Curtis
    Ohh, well I feel all kinds of foolish now. Thanks for clearing that up!
