This is the last series I wanted to re-do in 10-bit because I wasn’t satisfied with my original.
Frame rate fixed, haloing (hopefully) fixed, and OP/ED linkings fixed.
Awesome. I plan to support this whole heartedly if a BDMV doesn’t happen. ^_^
You’d be better off donating now than later, because if a BDMV doesn’t happen and I have no donations, I may just cancel.
just cancel it 😀
I FUCKING LOVE YOU
This is the best thing I’ve heard in ages.
Can I donate specifically to this? Your current donation counter is for Nogizaka Disc 3, it seems.
Updated
FUCK YES
OMG OMG OMG YES!
You know what? I bought a DVD of Haibane Renmei exactly 32 days ago ._.
Hopefully BD version won’t be as blurry as DVD. Or maybe it’s that blur that gives this series such atmosphere?
NOOO! Don`t buy this horrible BD!
Well somewhat unrelated any thoughts on Serial Experiments Lain BD that should be released end of the year?
http://www.yesasia.com/serial-experiments-lain-blu-ray-box-restore-blu-ray-first-press-limited/1021435845-0-0-0-en/info.html
Also from another source, for Lain BD, it seems to have a release date of October 27th, 2010:

Not really interested. Now if there was a Dennou Coil Blu-Ray that’d be a different story.
I think there are better series to spend money on … I’ve seen Haibane Renmei some years ago, it was nice but I have absolutely no urge to watch it again.
on BakaBT comments to the cestfait release indicate their subs were taken from the R1 DVDs. Other Subs are mentioned as being superior, you might want to check those out.
EXCELLENT!!
How many discs is it? This is why I hate buying; everything could fit on one..
4. Either way, I only can get ~10 GB downloaded before I get back from vacation. The other 80-90 will have to wait until after.
Yes! Luve you <3
Sorry to disappoint you but the Blu-Ray discs are even shittier than the DVDs -.-
[QTS] made their 720p-BD-rip, and the quality is quite poor. Maybe they have failed with filtering, but either way the source is not worth it. Looks like average DVD-upscale.
Well i checked the QTS raws as well and they sucked, but so did their ga rei zero raws so maybe its justwhoever is ripping them is crap and not doing a very good job.Personally i will wait for a good encode of the bdiso/bdmv and see if the quality’s good instead of judging it on QTS raws
Comments for Haibane Renmei by muhootsaver who lives in Japan and write bluray reviews on his blog.
“I knew this would look bad but I didn’t think it would be THIS bad.”
“For Haibane… sigh… it looks horrible… Q-tec + horrible masters = disaster.”
“In any case, it looks horrible. I feel bad for those who bought the release…”
CG,good luck with your releases.
Time would be better spent doing the Moryo no Hako BDs.
Time couldn’t be spent any better.
In case anyone interested or haven’t seen this yet, here’s a comparison that found:
http://comparescreenshots.slicx.com/comparison.php?id=69102
Both images are bad IMO and R1DVD is always bad in term of video quality. Interested to see R2DVD vs JP bluray and how many details are lost.

Definitely a great series, but the BD is a q-tec upscale, not sure if it’s worth it or not.
Thoras done macross in very nice quality so unless your doing dual audio don’t bother doing it

Before you drop it 😛 How does it look? Blurry up-res or did they actually have a high grade master?
Yay for Macross! Stupid hardsubbed karaoke-lossy audio thora 😛
As for Haibane, I will get 1 episode and see if how it looks. Not really a big fan. But I am glad to read if Dennou Coil would be done if it ever got released!
Can you do a DVD-BD comparison? So far I’ve seen DVD version, and I’m not sure if BD it’s worth downloading.
Trust me, the Bluray isn’t perfect, but it’s better
@Tim: Outside of R1 subs, the only other option for Haibane Renmei is to OCR/transcribe the old AonE hardsubbed TV-rips. And there’s no guarantee that those will be any better.
@Guy: There is no English audio for Macross Frontier. Idk if you meant original Macross or what.
No, Zalis, I guarantee you that the old AonE subs are NOT better. In fact, they kind of suck, translation wise.
I´m very exited with Macross Frontier, I have the Thora version and the fansub have trolls to death.
Also is 720 and the bitrate is very poor for the mecha fights and the sound isn´t FLAC, very bad work for an Anime with music like this.
Keep the good work coalgirls !! ^o^
Any actual comparison screenshots of Bluray vs DVD(R1 or R2) for this anime??
thanks man!
so subs are from cestfait or?
720p only? Well, that’s good enough.
What happened to using cestfait for subs??
I used cestfait’s subs, but they wound up being R1.
thanks for the hard work coalgirls ,
hmm 1gb for 720p 20 minute episode is a bit too big
anyone downloading?
i added torrent to the seedbox a minute after uploading on site, 40 minutes from adding and still torrent didnt found a seed, it dont download a single byte 🙁
It is. I checked, there is some seeding going on.
yeah, i restarted my torrent client and it download 🙂
thanks for my precious haibane renmei.
Could you spare to add the total size in your usual description? My internet connection sucks and I need to proportion what I download first. Now I have to download the torrent first and open it in µTorrent before I get to see how big it is. It’d just spare me and a lot of other people (think about those with a transfer limit) a lot of time. Thanks either way.
@ Gyzome 13.96GB
will there be a 1080p release?
When you’ve downloaded and watched the quality of the 720p version, I don’t think you will still ask that question.
Thanks anyway, Coalgirls. I find that the colors look better than the R1 DVDs, if nothing else.
Great job! Thanks, Coalgirls!
Anyone else having problems with a choppy playback?
It will be slightly choppy. The BDMV was poorly rendered, so it had a weird telecine pattern that often skipped telecined frames.
I really don’t want to bother you, but the audio gets out of sync after the OP for me. I use the newest version of cccp and the problem only occurs with this release. When I skip the OP the problem disappears.
Disable FFDshow FLAC.
Thank you! Runs perfect now. 😀
